NBA - Sports Rumors

If Grant Hill(notes) turns down the offer from the New York Knicks to stay with the Phoenix Suns, the team has already come up with Plan B: Point guard Andre Miller(notes), most recently of the Philadelphia 76ers, according to the New York Daily News.

With free agent dollars drying up and more teams exercising fiscal responsibility, Miller is one high-profile free agent who is falling through the cracks. Miller's loss could be a huge gain for the Knicks, who would significantly upgrade their point-guard position by adding a player who helped transform the Sixers from a lottery team to solid playoff team after he came over from Denver in the Allen Iverson(notes) trade.

According to the Daily News, the Knicks could conceivably offer Miller the same deal Jason Kidd(notes) rejected; $18million over three years. Another possibility is signing Miller to a one-year, mid-level deal worth $5.8 million. A one-year contract would give the Knicks salary-cap flexibility for the free agent class of 2010. Plus, Miller may be receptive to signing for one year and testing the free agent market next summer.

Miller has been linked to Portland, but the Trail Blazers are reportedly working on several different deals, including one for Chicago point guard Kirk Hinrich(notes).

Is this a rumor blog or a place where people peddle their worthless ass websites? anyways, back to the topic, i'd say Miller should be the Knicks' plan A instead of plan B. Duhon is a decent PG, but he's a glorified back up at best. Miller would be a significant upgrade from Duhon. Duhon would be an upgrade from the ball hogging, AI wannabe Nate Robinson!

I'm the first REAL poster in this forum. Uuurahh! Yay for me. This is a die-hard Laker fan speaking. I don't see why the Knicks need Andre Miller. Nate Robinson is fantastic. Green jerseys and emphatic dunks aside, this guy can really play. And he's a fan favorite in NYC. I would LOVE to have Nate Robinson in L.A. Chris Duhon seems like more of a "stop-gap" solution than anything. The Knicks will regret overlooking Nate Robinson. Mark my words. 'Shake & Bake'.

Flashy play sells tickets, but alas my Knicks have so many holes that more substance is needed...Nate may be lost in that shuffle. Andre would be more effective getting the ball to Harrington and crew and yes Duhon is a bench player, time to put him there.

I don't care how many fan favorites are on the Knick's roster, if they are .500 or better, great, but I never could get hyped over the best of a losing team! Put the right Lego pieces together Dammit!!!

As A Knick fan, I like the idea of getting Miller. On the other hand, I see Duhon being the starter again, he was great last season but playing 45 minutes a nite when you are use to 15 will kill any man. Duhon can handle the job, but he needs a backup. And my buddy Nate is a shooting guard in a point guards body. And now since we have Toney, maybe we don't ned to spend cash for Miller. If anything, get Pat Ewing Jr. for 800k/yr

The Knicks don't need another scoring swingman... They need a true PG. Andre Miller should be their first choice.

Miller will thrive in Coach D'Antoni's offense, a much better fit than Duhon. Plus the media exposure of NYK wouldn't hurt Miller for his next contract. Will be an impact that NYK can show New Yorkers that they're serious about bringing back the glory days of the early 70's.
Imagine that at one time, they had 4 HOF's (Reed, DeBuscheere, Frazier, and Monroe) in the starting lineup, and I think one more (Jerry Lucas?) coming off the bench.

A "real" starting point guard who can score and shoots 50%...a must for the Knicks .
He's also an iron man...has played 80 or more games every year of his career.
    Get him!!!

i endorse the decision to sign Andre miller, duhon cant run Dantoni's system... he doesn't push the ball up court fast enough and he has problems with turnovers... also, he's just not a starting PG... LETS GO KNICKS 2010

The sixers need to continue to negotiate with miller to resign him. If he has an interest in the Knicks, they should try to do a sign and trade. The deal mentioned in #2 looks like it would work for both teams.
