Heat's Marion has broken nose, will be fitted with mask

Who is that masked man? In Miami, it will be Shawn Marion.

Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said Marion did not practice Monday because he was being fitted with a mask to protect his broken nose. Marion was injured during Saturday's 100-87 loss at Charlotte. He is averaging 12 points and 9.7 rebounds per game this season and shooting 43.3 percent from the field.

Marion was in attendance for the Heat's film session Monday. Spoelstra is hopeful Marion will play Wednesday against Philadelphia.

''I think once we figure out how the mask fits and how he can take contact we'll move on from there,'' Spoelstra said. ``But he's in good spirits. He doesn't have a black eye yet.''

Rookie point guard Mario Chalmers, who also injured his nose against the Bobcats, practiced Monday.

    Will marion resign? or should he go? trade?
    u decide.
    i think marion should go speparte with heat. keep in mind that wade has been mentioned in trade talks.. he will be free agent later too.
    the futer is not certin. go with team that can win champ for less $.. age is a factor

    Everyone knows Shawn Marion is good. Lakers fans always looking for someone to hate on that isn't Kobe. Lamar Odom is a poor man's Shawn Marion. I refer to him as "The Janitor" of the NBA." when he comes on the court they're like just rebound Kobe's shots and after you pass it back to Kobe then try and get another one. You are only allowed to make shots if Kobe is not on the floor and if he says it's O.K. You will also need a signed permission slip from your parents as well as Phil Jackson. Bynum is a kid, talented though. Kareem is a great teacher. What do you expect? Miami and Chicago are my sleeper teams because they play hard.

    Shawn I have a very good suggestion for you. Odom is having a hard time accepting his sixth man role with LAL. C'mon seek trade for LAL, it will be great for you and Lamar. I know you are not happy with Miami ask Erik's permission and I'm sure your request will be granted. At LAL I know that you can co-exist with Kobe having co-existed with Steve and Stoudemire at the Suns and Dwane with Miami. Here's hoping that you will consider my suggestion.
    Mitch Pistons GM was able to negotiate with Denver surreptitiously there is no reason why you cant negotiate the above with Miami.

    haha, no. 12 and 13 are so true. I'm one of those lakers fan that respects other teams such as boston and players such as lebron. I may be a lakers fan but I also hate other lakers fan who keeps yelling that kobe is the best, other players suck, and lakers will win 2009, that's bull [profane]. Why don't other lakers fans just let lakers and kobe play without hating on others, if they like lakers then cheer for the lakers.
    Oh yeah, shawn marion is good and talented, an all-around player but we dont need to trade lamar, this is my opinion.

    How does stupid Kobe and the Lakers come up every second. Kobe winning the MVP last year was a JOKE (CP3 cough cough). Shawn Marion on any team is more valuable than Kobe. This year his scoring will go down and all defensive numbers will go way up because that's what the Heat need. Kobe can't play defense people, and that's half the game. Please somebody explain to me how Kobe Bryant deserved to make all-defensive team last 3 years. Luol Deng defends harder in 5 minutes than Kobe has defended the last 3 years.

    Everyone has to give props to Kobe, he is the reigning MVP and the best player in the world. This Kobe hate is just like everyone who hated Jordan in his championship years. Same thing we hear now, "ballhog, takes too many shots, bla bla bla." And back to Marion for Odom, great trade. Marion plays both sides of the ball consistently. Again, CONSISTENTLY.

    About Eddie Jones: The league over the past few years has become very young and athletic in the back court, notably at the 2 guard. The teams where the rotation and style of play where Eddie Jones would make SOME sense: Detroit, Utah, New Orleans, Houston, , LAC, Denver, and I like him on Philly. Jones at this point in his career is not going to give much. However, his ability to play excellent half court team D, create the turnover when he gambles for it, his ft and 3pt shooting ability, and his veteran leadership off the bench would add incredible intrinsic value to any championship caliber organization. His greatest assets include his hands and feet on defense, ability to hit the outside open jumper, and his playoff experience. Hope this helps.

    # 17 you are my hero. Marion was great with the SUNS and will be anywhere. BARNS plays like him for PHOENIX. Lets look at the spurs. They can not win with out #1 luck ,timmys 3 #2 cheapshot horrey #3 paid off refs #4 feeling their age #5 hack a SHAQ #6 MG. They are dirty ,cry,cheat ,have no class what so ever. As #17 said the lal suck. They have people in la crowning them 3-4 games into it. WHAT A JOKE, ONLY IN LA. PHOENIX is very deep and will do great this year. They can rest NASH-SHAQ for the play offs. They have guys on the pine that would start for many teams. HILL-LB-BD-and the rest are great. Really look at their team 12 players that are either great or good. A great (d) minded coach but yet ave close to 100 points. 52 wins easy. SUNS ARE HOT. #17 Y ARE # 1. GO SUNS!!!!!!!!!
