Memphis Grizzlies forward Rudy Gay(notes) hasn't played since Feb. 15 when he played only 13 minutes against the Philadelphia 76ers. The forward's hurt shoulder has healed enough that he is getting close to a return, according to WHBQ Sports Radio Memphis.
The station reports that Gay will get an MRI on Monday and if everything looks good, he will begin on-court work again.
That puts him on track to appear in games later next week. The Grizzlies could use Gay. The team is currently hanging on to the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Gay has averaged 19.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists this season.
