Gasol improving but not close to return

The Los Angeles Lakers will play the Dallas Mavericks (44-23) without Pau Gasol, who was walking around without crutches at times Monday, but was still limping on a sprained left ankle.

"The swelling's come down a little bit," Jackson said. 'It's a positive sign. It's all one step at a time."

Sunday Jackson said he was hopeful Gasol could return by the end of next week.

I just wish Pau a speedy recovery, and same goes to Andrew. The west is just a brutal conference of great teams that deserve to be at their best when the playoff starts.

I knew it! it's nothing serious i'm so glad my brother surfered a similar injury and a little under two weeks and he was back to normal i'm sure pau won't be out for too long. But of course he shouldn't push himself though the lakers have lost two straight they are a resiliant team and will bounce back.

Other than Kobe most of the Laker's trainers keep players off twice the expected length of time........Its wimpy I know........ but it seems its becoming the norm around the league..........I doubt you ever see a Willis Reed type injury(player) that should have sidelined him for a month or two and he only missed one game during the playoffs back in the day......Kobe, Iverson, Marion, Garnett have played through numerous injuries in their careers...Warriors....I actually like Ronny Turiaf at center and hope he keeps getting the minutes. Lakers.....Center Bynum/Turiaf.....PF Gasol/VLAD.....SF Odom/Walton....SG Kobe/Sasha......PG Farmer/Fisher. & that bench weight Mbanga.

Worst case if we lose next two, we will be number 5 seed or so....
all I have to say is Bynum, Odom, Gasol Frontline playoff time, how is anyone going to handle that playoff time in seven game series, regardless of seeding for Lakers.
Oh by the way, we also have vet in Fish, and a guy names KOBE, and a coach i believe knows what he is doing.
    Go Lakers...

Lakerfan you are right. Even if we lose the next 2 we are still in good shape. The other teams like San Antonio are also losing games and those other western teams will be going head to head with each other. We will just be part of the pack for now. Once we get Pau back, then maybe Bynum and Ariza, then look out. Hey, even having Mihm back woud be good. He is more serviceable then Mbenga.

Even as a Laker fan not sure we will get all the pieces back in time to make a Championship run. I mean Bynum hasn't even ran the court since Jan! As a Laker fan I just don't see it happening this year and that's keeping it real!!

The Lakers will be alright when Gasol and Bynum returns, but they have to really step it up a notch on the defensive end of the ball. I mean that game against Houston was a complete embarassment to our second unit and it also showed some flaws in our ability to stop a point guard who can score off the pick and roll. I mean, if Rafer Alston(Skip-to-my-Lou) can do that to us with such ease, imagine what Tony Parker or Chris Paul will do in the Playoffs!! Step ya game up, Lakers!!!

whats the definition of Tony INFLATABLE HEEL PARKER??? Flat Tire...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHa
When you think about the lakers the past few years its crazy,,,,,Kobe had to play with starters that included Kuame, Smuch, and Luke,,,,,,,,,,Thats freaken crazy......these guys are so weak none of them any threat at all.....And still made the playoffs,,,,,Luke Is so over rated im My Opinion...no threat from outside , very little threat he will drive on you,,if he does its a missed layup,,never a dunk,,,hes lucky ariza got hurt ,,or his playtime would have been almost 2 mins a game......Trade Luke For baron davis,

Lakers fans: yes, we would like to have all big boys back in the game, but... playing Rockets, we just destroyed them in the 3rd , and we just stopped. i was just trying to figure out why. Kobe did a number on TMac, and Sasha, as funny as he looks at times, really got under Alston's skin (they should've T- him up, twice, for poiting finger and walking up to Sasha...). lakers could have won that game, easily. i just don't know why we stopped after the 3rd quarter.
