NBA - Sports Rumors

Following the Boston Celtics' 100-88 loss to the New York Knicks last night, their fourth loss in six games, Kevin Garnett gave his blessing to the team bringing on former teammate Stephon Marbury.

"Anything that is going to help us get better, anybody comes in here who understands what we're doing, and that's getting better," said Garnett, who had been in the league for a year when Marbury joined Minnesota.

Marbury was drafted out of Georgia Tech by Milwaukee fourth overall and then traded to Minnesota for No. 5 selection Ray Allen. Marbury and Garnett played together for 2 1/2 years before Marbury was traded to New Jersey.

Marbury left the Timberwolves on bad note and reportedly in a dispute with Garnett.

"I think it's about making the team better," said Garnett. "I'm not opposed to Steph, I feel like he's got a lot of basketball left in him. I know his IQ is very, very high. He is one of the best point guards out there. I wouldn't be opposed to it. If Steph came to this team I'm all for that.''

this may be the only place where marbury won't be a cancer, tho i root against kg, i doubt he'd put up with Starbury's antics...it would make the 2nd unit more dangerous

Garnett seems to be panicking, and so does Ainge and the rest of the team. How can we forget this garnett guy, who was so disgusted with Marbury when he wants out from the wolves and demanded a trade. NBA is really all business. This Celtics team can't believe, that they are being beaten black and blue by the warriors, and the knicks; with a combined total of 23 wins (as of today, 01/06). The "False" Pierce (The truth?????) had said it, " they are not panicking" ha ha ha, Oh yeah?? Now you want Marbury? Well, It will be good for the NBA, to have another story to talk about. You can have him. Marbury can settle to come off the bench, in the meantime, but will take the starter role off Rondo, sooner, which will make him sick. Come on Walsh, and Ainge, get into the news, and let the show begin. The Cavs anyway, will knock you off, come playoff time.

What's the beauty in Garnett being a trash talker? He's eating his words. Now he cries for help, "Mommy, mommy, we are being bullied by the knicks and the warriors and the blazers (even without Roy)" "Please get me for some help. Get Marbury to bully these teams, Mommy, Mommy" What a shame. Why now? Because, he is not trusting his second unit anymore. He wants it all. Now "Mommy Ainge" said, Calm down my son, we'll get that for you.
Garnett and his antics on the court, is not a class act of itself. His yapping, his clapping, his blah blah blah, speaks it for himself, NO CLASS OF BEING A WINNER.

This year the Cavs would roll the Celtics in a playoff series. They damn near did last year without Mo Williams.
And if the Cavs have home court advantage in the series......it would probably be a sweep or go 5 games at the most...............

I agree with you #12. And lets see what will happen to these cry babies under Mommy Ainge and Papa Doc on Friday, when they meet the Cavs. LJ will smother them all, even if marbury is in uniform. Celtics are poor winners.

tvr20..........I am not ready to say the Celtics suck.......but they are not improved from last year and we are.........Just adding Mo Williams was a huge lift for the Cavs.
Not having Big Z might hurt us a little bit come this Friday......he generally plays pretty well against them.
But look for Mo and LBJ to carry us through this tough time.

It would make more sense for Starbury to go to the Lakers with Farmar out until mid/late February. The Celtics have a better option in Sam Cassell sitting on the bench, why not finally give him some playing time. He knows the offense better and wouldn't be the distraction Starbury would be. This is all hindering on the Knicks and him coming to an agreement/buyout, which looks like it's far away from happening.

You guys be on some serious crack to think the celtics are panicking and suck. The celtics are the best team in the NBA and are coming off of a long west coast trip. They are a little older so it will take longer to get their legs back under them. tvr20 you are a total A..S..S..H..O..L..E and know nothing about basketball. The celtics would beat the Cavs again this year like they did the first game of the season. Marbury would help the celtics second unit by moving house to shooting guard. The lakers suck. Yes I am a celtics fan you all can [profane].
Celtics= 17 NBA Championships.....How many does your team have?

The comments so far are more "Fan" based than then Basketball knowledge based.
Marbury is a cancer, a jerk, selfish, disloyal, etc. Boston is probably the only team that
can handle him and be stronger with him. Remember the Michael Jordan Era of
the Bulls with Dennis Rodman, it worked, but I doubt Rodman would have worked on
any other team. I'M NOT A CELTIC FAN! However they may still be the best team in
Basketball. Cleveland is the only eastern team that us a real challange to them.
Orlando and Atlanta are getting there, but they aren't there, yet. If Marbury wants to
fit in, he would help big time, in keeping Cleveland at bay. The same applies when
Boston will probably play the LA Lakers in the finals. Bottom line Starbury is a
real jerk, however he can ftill provide value, for the right team. He probably misses
playing and 99.9999% of all NBA players put huge value in gaving a Championship
Ring. Maybe even enough to show some restraint.

I could sense the celtics are getting worried. I still think there the best in the east but thats now. As the season goes there age will kick in and the cavs will run them out of the playoffs. Better yet Atlanta will beat the celtics. Celtic fans no need to cry or wine its seems that theres enough of that going on on the court. Lakers will be champs.

The Celtics are a joke. They won the NBA Championship, but that was last year and this is a new year. No more POSEY ur best defensive player on ur team and no more Brown who retired. Even if Maubuery joins you Celtics, Ur not going to beat the LAKERS. LAKERS WILL BE NBA CHAMPS THIS YEAR. FEAR THE LAKERS. KOBE MVP AGAIN AND MVP FINALS AND NBA CHAMPS.
