You'd think Cleveland had enough big man in Shaquille O'Neal(notes) to cover their bases for this off-season, but the word is that the team is about to sign 6'8" former Celtic Leon Powe(notes).
The former California Golden Bear is still recovering from a torn ACL and won't be back till the All-Star break but the Cavs apparently want him, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, and is meeting with team doctors today. The guy who spent some time homeless in Oakland when he was a kid is apparently about to get a two-year contract from the Cavs.
If he can recover, it seems like a good risk for Cleveland. After all, this is the guy who scored 30 points in his first game subbing for an injured Kevin Garnett(notes) this spring.
