Emeka Okafor losing teammates in New Orleans

“EmekaEmeka Okafor(notes) is about to play his first season with the New Orleans Hornets, but he's apparently already lost the confidence of his new teammates, according to Yahoo! Sports' Marc J. Spears.

Okafor has been out with a hurt toe but he's supposedly been cleared to play for some time now and his teammates are getting annoyed that he hasn't gotten back onto the court. After all, the season is coming fast now. One teammate said, "He better practice Sunday or he could lose some guys," one Hornet said.

Head coach Byron Scott is saying that Okafor is telling him he's not ready to go out there just yet. "When you have a guy that says he is not ready, the worst thing you can do is force him to get out there," Scott said.

Well, he better get it together soon or he may be spending a lot of time by himself on road trips when he finally decides to play.

    man they got sum veterans in NO posey, brown and okafor is relatively young; he was the spoiled baby in charlotte cuz he was drafted next to d how now he's in the real world

    But Tyson hardly ever played, and had a hurt toe also, so why didnt anyone get pissed with him, Okafor brings more to the table then Tyson. Personal friendships dont when games

    "Okafor brings more to the table then Tyson"
    Yeah about an extra 4 years and 40 million dollars. He also brings the highest SB ratio in the league. That means, Okafor gets a higher percentages of his shot attempts blocked than any other NBA player.
    He's a nice defender and rebounder, but thats about it.

    Funny... all I heard when this trade went down was how much more reliable Okafor was... he's not injury prone like Chandler, almost like Okafor's first 2 years in the league didn't happen...
    In the end, the Hornets will regret this trade, even if Okafor does manage to play the majority of the season, there's nothing you can do about his heart....
    You can be super-talented but if you don't have heart you will never win big

    tyson vs. okafor: who is more UNreliable, injury prone, overrated?
    I would say they are about the same.

    actually greg, the #s would suggest tyson has been more reliable as of late- excluding last year
    but in the grand scheme of things, yes, they're both about the same....

    He doesnt play with the same heart that led UConn to the National Championship. Still 10.3 rebounds a game plus a 56% field goal shooter and 1.7 blocks is nothing to sneeze at. Thats better than the centers for the Celtics and Lakers, winners of the last two championships, in 2008 and 2009. The potential is there, if he can stay away from injurys.

    Tyson Chandler gets injured easily so does emeka but emeka has alot more years in him. also a better overall player.

    Nice journalism, again, Mark. Calling it a "hurt toe" is really unprofessional. You could have said he had a toe injury, or even gave us some useful information like the fact that it's a strained toe.
