NBA - Scoop Du Jour

Kobe Bryant(notes), Derrick Rose(notes) and Kevin Durant(notes) don't have to go to work today or tomorrow. Not if they don't want to, anyway.

But they apparently wouldn't mind playing some basketball to raise some money for a charity in the Philippines.

"The three stars will be part of a selection that will play a pair of charity exhibition games against SMART-Gilas Pilipinas national team and an all-star squad from the Philippine Basketball Association," according to The money raised by the games would go to MVP Sports Foundation, an organization that helps Filipino athletes and Philippine sports in general.

InterAksyon points out that the last time an NBA team came through the Philippines was when a touring team came through in 1997, a game that was highlighted by Shaquille O'Neal(notes) picking up Filipino point guard Johnny Abarrientos to help him dunk.

The Sporting News reports that another site in the Philippines, the Inquirer, says that the final roster of NBA players who will be involved in the games will be made public Friday.
