Duncan could return Friday

San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said there was a 50-50 chance Tim Duncan would play Friday against the Utah Jazz.

Considering that Duncan appeared to have suffered a serious injury when his right leg curled underneath him in a fall in the second quarter Sunday against the Portland Trail Blazers, the upbeat injury report was surprising.

i would play this as cautiously as possible with the best big man since kareem or possibly hakeem. duncan is so valuable that they need to make sure he is 100% when he returns, and even then ease him back at 20-25 minutes for the first 2-3 games...and i say this while having him on my fantasy roster

I'm skeptical of Duncan coming back so early. James F has a valid point. He is too valuable to take chances with.

Duncan is too valuable to take chances with and considering his reaction once afflicted by the injury I am highly skeptical of such an early return.

there is no way duncan plays unless he is 100%, Pop is too smart, he knows how valuable TD is. plus were winning games without him, so there is no need to rush. kind of nice to get a glimpse of the future, with Manu and Tony being the stars, im confident the Spurs will continue to be a contender well after Timmy calls it quits. Go Spurs Go!

If the Spurs continue to win without Duncan, what does that say about his value?
Maybe Oberto can show his offensive skills in Duncans absence.

I hope that TD sits this one out, I liked seeing the team lift themselves against the Mavs, it was so sweet to watch. I have great respect for the Jazz.

Just about the dumbest thing I've read. Everyone knows Timmy is the soul of the Spurs, even when On the bench.

Duncan should rest, not only to heal the injury but to give the other Spurs riding the bench playing time. It''s very early in the season and the team is on top of their division.

Duncan's backups have already proven what they're worth, but Duncan isn't like Lebron. When Lebron goes out, his whole team goes out, cuz they're sorry, but with Duncan you have two all-stars carrying the load and capable backups who know how to score. They're gonna need Duncan soon, because he's an integral part of their defense. So, yeah, rush him back...but not "too" soon. Go Spurs Go

    ultimate
Until this year the Cavs were 10-3 without Lebron in the lineup. And had their two highest scoring games since Lebron joined the Cavs. Facts.
Pavlovic missing preseason & Vereajo not playing yet are two good reasons why the Cavs are not winning this year without Lebron. That is like missing Lebron, a starter (Pavlovic) and 6th man (Vereajo)
The Cavs can win without Lebron, but not with the present lineup.

Manu and Tony are good players. Manu is the one who take Argentina getting Olympics gold medal. Tim…. He is just average player in the world. Without any help from the NBA refs, he is just average. You can see how average he is in 2004 Olympics games.

Yeah no need to rush...for the SPURS this year is about being healthy come playoff...it really doesn't matter where they seed as far as records...they can freaking be seeded 4th and still win the whole thing.

Yeah, like I said before Unbiased-Fanatic, the Cavs are sorry. So what if they don't have Sasha & Andy. That's why they lost in the Finals to begin with!! ....IF...(and that's a big if), the cavs had a smart GM instead of stupid bald-headed Danny Ferry, then they wouldn't have signed a fragile Hughes, or they wouldn't have Drew Gooden on the bench because they think Andy's defense is better. Screw Sasha, he's no Ginobili...and as far as "Boobie" goes, Tony Parker could tear him up all day long. This is why the Spurs are winners...they have more than one star on their team unlike putting all their trust in greedy Brazilians and sketchy rookies named BOOBIE.
