“TayshaunThe Detroit Pistons are paying Tayshaun Prince(notes) $10.3 million and team president Joe Dumars has said he would love to unload either that contract or Richard Hamilton's(notes) one for $11.6 million. So when Prince was benched last night as a "precautionary move related to a lower back strain," lots of folks in the arena thought a deal was clearly in the making.

The consensus seemed to be that he would be packaged with forward Jason Maxiell(notes). But Dumars is saying ix-nay. The move was supposedly all about injuries. Dumars is saying that he's sick of new faces in his clubhouse and would like some stability.

But you'd think he'd be very happy to see a big-name free-agent "new face" next summer if he can free up some of that cash.

i'd really like to see rip go more than tayshaun. they already have a good SG in gordan and hamiltons attitude sucks. his career is on the decline, get rid of him. on the other hand tayshaun hasnt produced much lately but i think he can bounce back, a couple years ago he gave them a jolt both offensively and defensively. get rid of a piece of that crowded backcourt.

Pistons are going nowhere this season and really have no hope of going anywhere soon. Gordon is garbage! Rip is old. Tayshaun is over rated as hell. I dont see the pistons being any better then Michigan State this year.

Prince has more value at this point than Hamilton with his all around game being better. I've been a big fan of Prince's since coming into the league. Low maintenance personality, plays great defense, complete team player who plays every game with passion. Rip still has a lot to offer too and is a nice offensive talent still, but with Gordon in the mix now, he is the expendable one out of the two, and I agree with what has been mentioned so far about the Pistons needing a big man badly.

wow again...#10...you think tay has only made one good play..you do not watch the pistons nite in and nite out...tay made a play like that every game..that was, by the way, a GREAT play on reggie miller..it was put in the top 50 plays of all time..listen to reggie mention it on tv...he cringes when the other guys bring it up..that one play stopped reggie from winning a championship..one good play..ha

tade rip to cleveland for varajao and 1 or 2 other players. cavs can move west to backup pg and have a relatively unstoppable bench, and the pistons would get a decent big man out of it even though he is no superstar.

Rip can still play.. Tay can play.. Why not play them together till the All-Star Break.. Trade one before the trading deadline if the team is reeling.. Cavs rule that division anyway..

Tay is from Compton and will kill you all if you continue to make fun of him. Most of you people are abundantly stupid. So for those of you with whom I would dub "retarded".... why don't you go to hell. For the rest of you, Ben Geezy has been a great acquisition. Ben Wallace looks great in a Pistons uniform. And the Pistons will make the playoffs (though they might not make it past the first round). Subsequently, Joe D will make a move for a mid-level free agent (i.e. Bosh or Amare) after the season. The Pistons will seriously compete again then.
I hope that you "retards" know that Jesus doesn't like "retards" and that is why he singles them out and makes them ride in a small bus. Jesus loves me though.

Tayshaun Prince and Rip Hamilton are still legit players. The problem in Detroit is that you fired a good coach in Flip Saunders, gave away one of the game's best point guards in Chauncey Billups for a SG, a position you already had covered, and signed Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva who have no interest in winning, just padding their stats on bad teams.
There are a lot of good teams that would love a scorer like Villanueva who can afford his ball hogging. Deal him to Cleveland, Phoenix, Miami or Philadelphia and get some young team players. Get a quality big man who can play defense and get Ben Gordon to commit to being a sixth man.
The Detroit Pistons should be a 4th - 7th seed in the East. Joe Dumars needs to pull his head out of his 1980's ass and get his act together before they miss the playoffs entirely.

Prince Paul, nobody loves you, not even Jesus, you're a fake and a fraud, and if you ever came close to Compton, you'd sh*t your pants and fall down in the fetile position, crying your wanna be @ss off!!

I have news for all of you! THE PISTONS WILL NOT MAKE THE PLAYOFFS. Obviously, there are a lot of casual fans on here. If you think Rip is "old" or washed-up, you have no clue about b-ball. Check the stats, the opener against Memphis the team had 26 assist. Since then they haven't come close to twenty. That tells me Rip is the catalyst for this offense. It's his motion that create alot of opportunities for the rest of the crew. Any caught saying Tay is way better the Rip should smack themselves HARD! THREE TIMES!! Wake up please the numbers bear fruit. Don't trade either (Rip or Tayshaun) of them. But, if Joe had to it should be The Palace Prince because his replacement is on the bench. Now, back to the original statement. Until the Stons get a true PG and a legit big man they won't make it to the post-season. Rodney Stuckey is a shot first, pass hardly ever 1 guard. It's not good when the back up has as many dimes as starter! And it's crazy when your starting PG avg. the same number of assist as a player that hasn't played since the opener (Rip.) So, until Joe gets rid of 'Stuck' and pick up a big man say Bosh or Kaman (preferably Bosh) my beloved Stons will be hitting the links early season after lowly season!

PRINCE PAUL........ the fact that you say some one should be killed because of an opinion of a basketball player makes you "retarded" HAZEN: the fact that you went on and on about a play I admitted was great proves you couldnt think of a second one.....like I said, Tayshaun was a great change of pace and I was happy when he took over the three from Michael Curry, but its time to move on. Jerebko and Daye have to much game to sit behind a player we can get value for.
