Center Erick Dampier(notes) got traded from the Dallas Mavericks to the Charlotte Bobcats this summer and then got waived from the team on Sept. 14. Conventional wisdom had him joining the Miami Heat, but then Pat Riley seemed to realize that he already had enough big men on the roster with Joel Anthony(notes), Jamaal Magloire(notes) and Zydrunas Ilgauskas(notes) already onboard.
Then numerous teams were rumored to be interested in the 6-11 center, who averaged 6.0 points, 1.4 blocked shots and 7.3 rebounds per game last year for the Mavs. The Milwaukee Bucks, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers and Phoenix Suns were taking a look at him.
