Clippers waiting on Chauncey BillupsOnce a trade for Chris Paul fell apart, the Los Angeles Clippers found their starting point guard for this season by claiming Chauncey Billups off of waivers from the New York Knicks. Now it's a matter of waiting to see if Billups will show up and play for the Clips.

The 35-year-old Billups "had preferred to enter free agency" and told Yahoo! Sports on Saturday that "he could become a disruptive force if a team claimed him in the waiver process." As Adrian Wojnarowski and Marc J. Spears write, teams figured he was too nice a guy to follow through on his threats.

"After a while, you just kind of get taken advantage of in these situations," Billups told Yahoo! Sports. "I've been known as a leader — and I am a leader — but a leader can be as disruptive as he can be productive, especially when you carry a strong voice and people rally around you. This is about me now. This is about me, and teams should know that right now."

The league was not happy with the comments and informed his agent, Andy Miller, on Monday that his client needed to show up and play for whatever team claimed him, Wojnarowski and Spears report.

The Clippers have also added Caron Butler this offseason and managed to keep young center DeAndre Jordan by matching a four-year, $43 million offer he received from the Golden State Warriors.
