Marcus Camby

It's the biggest rebound of the year for the Los Angeles Clippers. And, arguably, the most dramatic in their tortured history. One week after the heart and soul of their team, their most skilled, most respected and most beloved player, Elton Brand, walked out on them, along with Corey Maggette, their leading scorer, the Clippers obtained an imposing substitute in 6-foot-11, 235-pound Marcus Camby.

Camby, the NBA defensive player of the year in 2006-07, was obtained from the Denver Nuggets in exchange for a conditional second-round draft pick in 2010.

Conditional because it gives the Nuggets the right to exchange picks with the Clippers in that second round. If, however, the Clippers have the lower pick and Denver chooses to pass on the opportunity, there would be no further compensation. In other words, the Clippers may have gotten Camby for nothing. And the Lakers thought they got a steal in obtaining Pau Gasol from the Memphis Grizzlies last season.

It's good the clippers got him for practicalyl nothing but I just wonder how kaman/camby will work. Defensivly they'll be good but offensively Camby just takes jump shots from around the court with no post up moves or driving to the hole.

They left out the $10 million trade exception the Nuggets also got. Kind of an important aspect of the trade. More stellar reporting from Yahoo.

it's definitely a steal, but camby is aging and this might only prove effective for 2 years or so for the clips. the clips should still trade now :D

Somehow, you always have to think the Clippers made a bad move, even if on paper it looks good. They are the Clippers after all.

great heist for the clips. the nuggets will regret it like the nets did when they dealt kenyon martin to the nuggets.

I am guessing this was a salary dump by the Nuggets but Camby should definitely help the Clippers defensively. Dunleavy should tell him to only shoot on putbacks from 8ft or less and they will be fine. Camby could average like 6pts, 12 rebs, and 3 blocks a game and cost them nothing to get. Any team would take that deal.
Wonder what the Nuggets are going to do with the $10million trade exception ? They could always wait until next year to use it.

it's good for the clips, bad for the nuggets. Camby came off the best season in his 10+ year career! The guy averaged over 13 rebounds per game and is the shot blocking leader for the past three years! The nuggets may have thought about the long-term. Camby is aging he's like 32 or 33 now right? In a few years he's going to slow down like everybody else. But why would they give him away now? This is very strange

If the Clippers would get rid of Sterling and Baylor. The franchise can only get better. The only things that have stayed the same throughout the years have been management and clearly management doesn't have a clue. Good move for Camby hope he doesn't regret it in a couple years.

The Clips will be great rebounders with Camby and Kaman both averaging around 13 per game last year.

WOW, after what seemed like getting much worse, they miraculously got so much better. Camby and Kaman should have no problem playing together, Kaman can score with both hands in the post and shoot and Camby can shoot and be a defensive player of the year again. Plus Camby gives Baron D some hands above rim for a few nice lobs. They were a good defensive front court with Brand I can't imagine they'll be worse off with Camby.

"may have" gotten camby for nothing? uh, a second round pick IS nothing. rarely do they even do anything. it's as likely as an undrafted free agent in the nfl, it happens but...rarely do they actually CONTRIBUTE. i think this begins the rebuilding process in Nuggetland. AI is next...
