NBA - Sports Rumors

“GlenIt looks like Boston Celtics forward Glen Davis(notes) wasn't beloved by all his old teammates from Louisiana State University. The word from the Boston Globe is that Davis hurt his thumb pretty severely when he was squaring off against an old teammate. In fact, the thumb is looking like it is broken, according to the Boston Herald.

He'll apparently need to get surgery on the thumb so Rasheed Wallace(notes) suddenly finds himself with more playing time. The Celtics, of course, won't say exactly what happened or how long Davis is expected to be out.

The Celts will surely miss the offense of Davis, particularly the playoff version, which averaged 15.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game in 14 games last year. Rumor has it the team is considering disciplining Davis in some way.

To many old guys on this team. I don't think they will last the entire season with everyone in tact. I look for Orlando to repeat....Next year the Celtics should try and sign D-Wade!!!!

You get the feeling this story could get worse before it gets better over the next few days. For starters, he could require surgery on the thumb, which would sideline for longer than he will already be out. And, the Celtics could take action against him for putting himself in this situation with this so-called friend of his, even if it was self defense. When you get to be a professional, you cannot put yourselves in situations such as this with people whol will get you in trouble and will try and hurt your career. Safe to say Davis should cut ties with this so-called friend and anyone else like him in his life. Damn shame too considering how well Davis has been playing, coming off a career season last year. Hard lesson to learn, especially if it costs him significant time this coming season.

Not a smart move, given that Davis is an NBA pro and ex-teammate doesn't sound like he's in the NBA. Better to not get yourself into that kind of situation, when you consider the money and repercussions. Davis was the only one who had something to lose here.

When C fans worship their team & players, they place these guys up close to God. But when they throw these guys under the bus, they just wanna make sure that they're deep under, LOL. So much for team chemistry, unity and loyalty LOL. Bunch of retarded.

Davis not only is a baby, he also is an idiot to be taking a chance on injury. I hope the Celtics have a clause in his contract that says this idiot does not get paid for grab a$$ing.

Who cares that Rondo didn't sign an extension?? he may lay an egg this year...then he can try and convince other teams he is worth big $$. If he has a good year...good for him. celtics always have option to match. Don't see what the big deal is.
