Celtics focused on re-signing Posey

For the NBA champion Boston Celtics, free agency begins today with James Posey as the primary focus. Most other personnel matters will be handled after Posey's situation is settled. One move was made last night when the franchise failed to make Tony Allen a qualifying offer, thus making the guard an unrestricted free agent, according to his agent, Mike Higgins.

The arrival of draft picks J.R. Giddens and Bill Walker definitely hurt Allen's chances to return to Boston. The 6-foot-4-inch, 213-pound Allen averaged 6.6 points and 2.2 rebounds last season after missing most of the previous season following left knee surgery.

The Celtics have a number of other free agents, including forward-center P.J. Brown, guards Eddie House and Sam Cassell, and center Scot Pollard. Boston could have interest in outside free agents such as Dallas guard Tyronn Lue and New Orleans center Chris Andersen. But according to general manager Danny Ainge, the Celtics' immediate focus is on re-signing Posey. While negotiations can begin today, free agents can't sign until July 8.

Well they will re-sign posey, but they need to encourge certain other players to retire. I think the celtics will find that posey will try to get a little more money then they were paying him, and after his performance off the bench last season there will be a few teams that will want him to start or at least be their 6th man. Good luck with keeping him...LAKER BALL BABY!

Posey needs to be a top priority for the C's. Give him what he wants. They don't really need to retain any of the others who are free agents.
Sure having House back would be nice as well, but Posey has to be retained FIRST!

They need to get that contract signed then focus on getting Brown and House to stay. Pollard, Allen, and Cassell are all expedible.

ainge put himself in a nice position with having every key ingredient signed already, just leaving posey. I don't see how or why they would not resign him.

Po-Z is definitely the priority, but after that they REALLY need another Guard. Tony Allen being let go was interesting, but they need a PG to back-up Rondo - ET Cassel is not the answer. Eddie House is a catch-and shoot guy, but not a PG. Lue would be a nice veteran to add.

Did u know Laker beat the Spurs by no call in last second .San Antonio had to take that paint
with no complainted .Why Lakers lost by 39 and they said just because they are young team!!!
May be next year they lost by 38 just because they get older or what??? Do not worry than, they
never in final next year for sure...No one get luck over and over.39 point lost that more than just
    because and because around

Don't forget about Toni Allen - the guy is going to be a solid player - maybe a star in the next couple of years. If they lose him - I believe it will come back and haunt the C's - it would not take much to keep him.

Just hope he accepts coming off the bench for another year, instead of going for the $$$ and starting elsewhere...

The Celtics should not shake up their current roster. They should retain the whole team that brought them the championship if they want to become champion again this coming season. Signing in new players is a gamble. (New recruits will mean years of training and blending with thechemistry of the original champion Boston Celtics. It is a big gamble!) Danny Ainge already did a perfect job in forming the team that brought them the championship trophy, he should not change anything for now. Keep it the same for another year. They should be good for another championship trophy next season!

Keep Posey, Please! He was certainly instrumental in in key stretches, in getting the Celtics through the Finals. Also, retain House and go after free agent Maggette and/or Brand from the Clips! Other than that, the Celts are not broken and not very much needed to keep them in contention for years to come; just my opinion through observation.

With Posey it almost made it the big 4. He added so much too the team, he is a must keep.
As is House, and PJ Brown if he does not retire.
    Cassell and Pollard can go.
