Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett can be very introspective in postgame media sessions and often comes up with some of the most interesting analogies. But following each of the past two road losses in Cleveland, there has been one question that even the deep-thinking Garnett can't seem to answer. Why have the Celtics struggled on the road in the playoffs?
"If I knew that, man, I don't think we'd be having these conversations or these problems on the road," Garnett said.
The Celtics won an NBA-best 31 road games in the regular season. But thus far in the playoffs, the Celtics are 0-5 on the road, with three losses in the first round in Atlanta and two in the second round in Cleveland. They haven't won a road game since April 14 at New York. On the flip side, the Celtics are 6-0 at TD Banknorth Garden in the postseason. When it came to answering the tough road question, Garnett wasn't the only Celtic who struggled with it.
"I wish I could really answer that," said James Posey. "I can't. I don't know."
Said Ray Allen, "It's hard to say. I have no answer for it. I have no answer."

"they beat up on some weak East teams and won a few West conference games this season " By weak East teams, do you mean the pistons? They took 2 out of 3 from Detroit. Won a few West games??? How about 25-5 versus the west this season. Get your facts straight...You can't say they are overrated, they were the best team in the league during the regular season, including winning both games against LA and San Antonio. It's true that they are having a tough time on the road, but don't forget Game 2 was a blowout with the Celts up by as much as 20 in the 4th quarter. Game 3 was a blowout by the Cavs and the Celtics were in Game 4 up until the fourth quarter when the Cavs simply outplayed them.
Not to mention that in the second round, the home team is 15-1. No one but Detroit has won a game on the road. Luckily the Celtics have home court advantage throughout. That's the reward for being the highest seeded team in the playoffs. The Lakers got Malone and GP when they were in their late 30's almost 40's even. KG, Allen, and Pierce are in their early 30's. So, no comparison there.
Look What Happened to the Patriots??? You mean they went 18-1? I love how everyone wants to bring up the Patriots, even when on a Celtics topic. For some reason people tend to think that fans in Boston and New England are upset or ashamed of rooting for the Patriots. They did go 18-1 last season. Sure, they lost the SuperBowl. The Giants outplayed them and deserved to win. But finishing 18-1, going undefeated in the regular season and breaking records for TD's thrown and caught is pretty impressive. If the Patriots are an indication of how the Celtics season will turn out, I'll take it.

How did the Cavs get a 20 point lead on them with Lebron James having one of the worst series of his career to date????? And you can stay focused on the second round but don't forget Boston WENT 7 GAMES WITH THE UNDER .500 HAWKS......................... so i do feel that validates my over-rated claim
...............
And my old vets comment was not limited to your "BIG 3"....... that includes Sam Cassell (limped away from the Clips) and a washed up PJ Brown also....... and I do beleive it is safe to say that all but Pierce are past their prime........
Yes and the Patriots did go 18-1 with that one being the only games that really counts........ and if you will take the Celtics having an almost perfect season and losing to the finals that's ignorant....... Every team wants to win that Championship.......

Cassell and PJ Brown were signed on as role players. Malone and GP were starters. So, once again, no comparison. While Cassell has had a bad series, Brown has actually played decently. He's rebounded, blocked some shots, played some D, and made some buckets in limited minutes. Exactly what a role player is supposed to do.
Is it true that in order to have a successful season you have to win the championship? I want them to win it all, but if the Celtics make it to the finals, or even the ECF, I'd be psyched. That's quite a turnaround from last year with the promise of the future with KG, Allen, and Pierce all under contract for the next few years. If that's ingnorant, so be it.
