Cavaliers contact Sixers' Lou Williams?

The Philadelphia 76ers took a day off from signing players, but no day goes by without the name of one of their players surfacing somewhere. That was the case Tuesday, as an Ohio paper reported that the Cleveland Cavaliers had talked to Sixers guard Louis Williams. The Willoughby News-Herald attributed a league source.

Neither team nor the player's agent had any comment Wdnesday. The Sixers said they are continuing to negotiate with Andre Iguodala and Williams, their two restricted free agents.

Some of the Cavs' interest in Williams is a result of contentious negotiations with guard Delonte West, who is also a free agent. His agent, Aaron Goodwin, complained recently that the Cavaliers haven't made a fair offer. West's choices would appear to include signing a deal that Cleveland is offering or taking a 1-year qualifying offer of $2.8 million and becoming an unrestricted free agent next year.

Moscow Dynamo apparently did make inquiries about West, the former star at Saint Joseph's, but he has no interest in playing in Russia.

Should West eventually sign, Williams would have one less option.

I think the sixers have a good title shot this year. They almost knocked off the pistons last year so watch for them this year.

II think Philly will be a contender in the east, Title Shot??? Thats really pushing it, Elton Brand didnt even play last year, and they aren't going to sneak up on teams, as they did last year, also I dont think they have enough shooters.. Anyways, I dont think Bron meant lets go after Lou Williams when he said we need to make some big changes to the roster after the game 7 loss.. Danny Ferry is a complete joke as GM, now he might not get a thing for Delonte West.. They need to just sign and trade him.

gotta sign sweet Lou!! Iggy has no choice but to sign with Sixers. he turned down a boatload of cash, then disappeared (for the most part) in the playoffs. He won't get many callers, at least at the money he wants.
    SIXERS WIN THE EAST.

title shot? kill yourself.... atlanta hawks took the celtics to 7 games but im sure nobody in the world REALLY thought they were gonna win after all them years of those 3 not doing anything. Sure Philly could have upset Detroit but chances of that happening again now? U gotta do it like the Warriors and go hard that 1st year when u come out of nowhere. Not that they got Brand people gonna start takin them seriously and there flaws will b exposed.

i'm a diehard sixers fan but i'm also a realist, i'm not sure about the sixers having a "title shot" but they will be a better team, more so if they resign iggie and lou williams. lou williams will more than likely be the replacement for andre miller if the sixers chose not to resign him which isnt a given.

Oh borther another idiot dirtdelphia fan that thinks their team has a shot to win it all. First of all Brand is going to get hurt and id say that's good karam for what he pulled. Next if you don't resign AI then you could have brand play an entire season and not do sqaut. Might be a 7th seed in the eastern conference next season at best. Watch out for the wiz and don't forget about the bucks. The Bucks have a nice core with RJ on the team now. As for dirtdelphia... YOUR 2008 EASTERN CONFERENCE CHAMPION PITTSBRUGH PENGUINS!

dirtdelphia is by far the stupidest nickname I have ever heard for a city. #7, you should really think about reattending grammar school before trying to hate on anyone, and the fact that you are from Pittsburgh makes you even more of a joke. Stop commenting about the 76ers, you have no right since your joke of a city can't even house a basketball team.

I'd say resign Lou Williams to a 5 year deal worth up to about 25 million because this guy is only going to get better and may become the future PG when Andre Miller leaves someday which I'm hoping he doesn't at least for a couple more years.

They have to resign Delonte West who has become (allegedly) a favorite of Lebron James (a decent postseason for West probably helped) But if they let West go they might as well start counting down the days to 2010 free agency. Another Yankees cap for Lebron James while playing for the olympics.

Lol, Looks like I win that one. Five year deal for 25 million sounds great. All we need to do now is resign Iggy which I saw on Comcast SportsRise that he's seeking 75 million for 5 or 6 years.

That would be reason #17,895 from the gallery on why LeBron will leave.

williams is a nice backup guard. Probably the fastest guard in the league and one of if not the best leaping ability. HIs ceiling is limitless. If he can learn some more from Dre MIller and get some meat on those bones, he will be an allstar someday.

Absolutely no clue who Williams is, so thats that. But, as far as Lebron being in Cleveland?...he won't be going to the Knicks folks...he will be balling for his buddy Jay-Z and the Nets when he becomes a free agent.

people may think the cavs are low balling players like d. west, but the only player locked into a contract when lbj's contract is up is boobie. can you say 50 mil. to play with. remember, this is a business. when you have the edge, take it. if d. west had the edge, he would bolt, and get millions that he's not worth. role players are making too much loot. the cavs are full of role players making millions. they really can't get any help until the trade deadline, when they can unload several expiring contract 13mil. wally, 7.3mil. e. snow (if he doesn't retire), 5mil d. jones. what makes things bad for the cavs now, is that they have to pay a hefty 14 mil. luxury tax. if d. west takes the 2.8mil. offer for 1 yr., look for the cavs to make a trade for a pg by the trade deadline.
