Chicago Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro downplayed the animated conversation Ben Gordon had with him Thursday as much ado about nothing. And nothing is what the Bulls delivered defensively Friday at the United Center in a 114-94 loss to the Toronto Raptors, who snapped a seven-game losing streak.
Not that the Bulls' offense was much better, given their 23 turnovers that the Raptors converted into 27 points.
The Bulls, whose losing streak hit four games, trailed 91-90 with 6:22 left, but the Raptors closed with a 23-4 run. The Raptors' rout came two days after Bulls general manager John Paxson said the team's defense must improve and after two days of practice. The Raptors shot 56.6 percent for the game.
''It was miscommunication,'' Derrick Rose said of the Bulls' defensive breakdowns. ''Yelling 'switch,' and we didn't switch. Stuff like that.''
Guard Jose Calderon returned to the Raptors' lineup after missing 10 of the last 11 games because of a hamstring injury. He scored a game-high 23 points and had 10 assists. Center Andrea Bargnani added 22 points and forward Chris Bosh 17.
Gordon led the Bulls with 19 points on 5-for-14 shooting. Del Negro downplayed Gordon's run-in with him after practice Thursday, in which Gordon used expletives when complaining to Del Negro about being fined for being late for a recent team flight.
''So what? You just deal with it and move forward,'' Del Negro said. ''Those things happen all the time that [media] don't know about. It doesn't bother me. It's part of the business, part of dealing with things, trying to get things going in the right direction.''

Calderon outscored Chris Paul 22-12. Calderon shot 8-8 from the floor, 4-4 on 3's & made both FT.
I thought Paul was a GREAT defensive player & Calderon didn't play defense. hmmm!
Last night Calderon shot 9-10 & made all 4 of his FT against Super rookie Derek Rose.
I could go on & on. But, the media & haters will post that Calderon sucks, & every PG in the East is better.
Even though Calderon has a higher FG%, higher 3%, and is shooting 100% on FT. Last season Calderon joined Steve Nash as the ONLY NBA players to shoot 50-40-&90%. Calderon will Join Larry Bird as the ony two players in NBA history to shoot 50-40 & 90 in a season TWICE. Unless Nash or Nowitzki get a little hot. Did I mention that Calderon led all NBA PG in assists to turnover ratio last season?
Calderon will have more assists & fewer turnovers than any East guard that makes the all-star team. And, Calderon will have a higher combined shooting % than any player in the NBA. and, calderon will shatter the NBA record for highest FT% in a season. And yet, Barkley, Kenny Smith, & C-Webb named 7 PG in the East as deserving all-star consideration, none of them Calderon.

floor who will. joakim noah is pitiful on the floor, it seems he never knows
where to be, whether on offence or defence. put gray in the game , at least he can score.

discipline players. Thank God for Derrick Rose and the discipline he brings to the Bulls. You know you don't have
to be a great team (all super stars ) to be competitive in the NBA.

Bulls have all piece in the back court, but not the front. They don't have any player can take the jump shot, that hurt when you have a point guard like Rose, who can create space for their big man. So the main issue here for the bulls is get a big guy can shoot.
I don't understand why they trade the #2 pick for Thomas in the 2006 draft, because they know they need a big guy who can take jumper, but why they trade for Thomas??????
Thomas is another Ben Wallace when in the time they have Ben, then they trade Ben for Gordon, who is also not a jump shoot player. They need a guy like Brad Miller, but he is too old. I think they may try to shot for Chris Bosh in 2010. Why not. You have Rose, a excellent point guard, Deng, a average small forward, Thomas, who may become Ben Wallace, who play great defense in the old day.
Hughes, Gordon, krinich, and all the big man are useless, you know the basic great team is have a Big man who can play defense, score. PF who can post up and make 15 feet jumper. Wings player who can knock down 3s and defense trancation, and a floor general who run every play, and you win.
But the bulls are far from that and still fighting their way and find it.....
