NBA - Scoop Du Jour

Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose(notes) has a major battle on his hands in the Eastern Conference finals against the Miami Heat, but he's also got a lot of little things to deal with along the way as well.

One such thing is a recent quote of his in ESPN The Magazine that had him rating the performance-enhancing drug problem in the NBA as being a seven on a scale of one to 10. "It's huge and I think we need a level playing field, where nobody has that advantage over the next person," Rose reportedly said, according to

Naturally, Rose is getting some questions on the quote and he said Sunday through a statement that the whole thing was a misunderstanding: "Regarding the quote attributed to me in ESPN The Magazine, I do not recall making the statement nor do I recall the question being asked," he said in the statement, according to "If that was my response to any question, I clearly misunderstood what was asked of me. But, let me be clear, I do not believe there is a performance-enhancing drug problem in the NBA."

Rose has averaged 27.6 points, 7.8 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game through the playoffs, but his Bulls are now down 2-1 to the Heat.
