Avery Johnson, Tom Thibodeau, Jeff Van Gundy, Mark Jackson, Dwane Casey, Phil Jackson, and on and on. These are names that keep coming up for all the head-coaching jobs that are open this offseason, but the Cleveland Cavaliers may end up with a guy that isn't generally found on the standard lists, according to Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski.
The team is reportedly in the fact-finding stage on Milwaukee Bucks assistant coach Kelvin Sampson. Wojnarowski reports that the Los Angeles Clippers may also have some interest in Sampson, who was a two-time national coach of the year with the University of Oklahoma.
San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, who worked with Sampson on Team USA in 2002, is supposedly a fan of Sampson as well as being a confidante of Cavs general manager Danny Ferry.
