NBA - Sports Rumors

Now that the Emeka Okafor(notes)-for-Tyson Chandler between the New Orleans Hornets and the Charlotte Bobcats, there are seemingly three centers in Charlotte: Chandler, Nazr Mohammed(notes), and DeSagana Diop(notes).

Hornets coach Larry Brown isn't worried because he's apparently planning to play the 7'1" Chandler at power forward from time to time and have him guard guys out on the perimeter. According The Baseline, Brown says that Okafor was more of a natural center than Chandler and can handle playing a more flexible game.

Now that would be an awesome offensive juggenaut: Chandler and Nazr or DIop on the floor at the same time... we will have to re-circuit the scoreboards. And defensively, that matches up well if the Cavs put both Shaq and Z on the floor at the same time ( maybe not so well against the Magic and Lewis at the 4)
But you know Larry. He is sooooo smart.

Since when does Larry Brown coach the Hornets. Just as I figured, Yahoo's retarded Rumor writer was just on vacation. Please hire someone that will proofread.

Larry Brown is tearing up the Bobcats. I mean this guy is so into himself that he doesn't realize he's ruining the team. First you trade away 2 pure shooters in Morrison and Carroll. Then you also let Shannon Brown go..you draft a point guard the year before with Ajinca when you already had Felton. Now you trade away the teams first ever draft pick for injury prone Chandler...with no real free agent pick ups..all I have to say is...Charlotte is on the clock with the first pick in the 2010 NBA Draft.

K NEL, Augustin will be better than Felton in the near future, you cant just live with one pg anyways. I loved Carroll, but in the end all he can do is shoot, Morrison just wasnt happening and had plenty of time.

i like Diaw and Chandler at the 4 and 5 but with raja bell playing the 2, u need a solid scorer at the 3 position. i dont really like Felton's game yet but Larry wants more time to straighten him out. they still could make the playoffs but they need a small forward bad.

If the Bobcats are thinking of that line-up ... they will definitely be watching ping pong balls next summer. They would fare better with Diaw ... and Vlad off the bench. Wallace rebounds like a 4. They can't have two offensively inepts (Chandler and Diop) onthe floor for extended lengths of time

#10 ... I am not a huge Gerald Wallace fan, but I recognize his prowess as an athlete, scorer, rebounder ... who the heck are they going to get that is better than him?!? I would say that the 3 is one of their strengths (at least in their starting line-up)

This team has drafted so poorly. Don't know if Henderson will pan out yet but look at their recent lottery picks: Augustin, Morrison, May, Felton and Okafor. Not a single franchise player. I think LB's a great coach but MJ needs to draft him some talent.

Hey Bobcats fans. Best of luck keeping TC healthy.
He's a good center when he's not injured , but he had this foot problem for most of last year and is still not 100%.
A lot of folks down here in N.O. think we stole Okafor . I think it was pretty much an even trade , unless Chandler sits out a lot of games .
Then , we will have gotten the best of the deal.

The line up is not horrible... Chandler could play SOME power forward, which works since Diaw is an undersized power forward. Flexibility is important, and I imagine Chandler would be better on the floor with one of the otherbigs than Okafor would have been. What they need to do is let Felton go and run the offense through Diaw sometimes. I think he had a high assist total in Phoenix when Amare was hurt.

Will D..Diaw is definitely not an undersized PF. He is a legit PF at 6'9. I mean they had a good team last year and could've made the playoffs. Last years team was a team nobody wanted to play b/c they play hard and tough for 48 mins.
Casper...don't get me wrong..I like Augustin a lot. But Felton has showed progress each year and last year was one of his best. They are trying to resign Felton so what does that mean? It means someone over there has no idea what the hell they're doing.
#16 not many player or teams draft franchise type players. Those type of players are rare. In this years draft the only franchise player was Griffin. The year before it was Rose. Before that it was Oden and Durant aka Durantula. These drafts had several good players but only few are true franchise players

What is with you DJ Augustin haters? He was invited to USA Basketball minicamp, you don't get invited to try for the USA team unless you're an elite player, and he's not even a starter and doesn't get many minutes.
Chandler, Diaw, Wallace, Bell, Felton.......pg should be Augustin but everybody loves their tarheel boy, so it might take a while.

I remember Augustin outplaying D Rose last year. He's a good player with speed but Larry brown doesnt like small point guards unless they play hardnosed Defense. Felton is bigger and his defense is solid but his decision making as a point guard and his shot selection needs major work.
