Following Hedo Turkoglu's(notes) rejection of their contract offer, the Portland Trailblazers held talks with representatives for New York Knicks' guard David Lee(notes), according to the New York Post.
According to the Post, the Blazers have interest in Lee, but still are not prepared to sign Lee, a restricted free agent, to an offer sheet, fearful that the Knicks will match a proposal that would start at $9 million a year. That's great news for Knicks president Donnie Walsh.
The Blazers don't want to be tied up for 10 days as they wait for the Knicks to decide whether to match, according to agent Mark Bartelstein.
"If he was unrestricted, he would've been signed July 1," Bartelstein said.
According to the Post report, Portland is prepared to wait and pursue other free agents. One report mentioned point guard Andre Miller(notes). After Turkoglu backed out of the Portand deal, the Blazers are $9 million under the salary cap and one option they have considered is making a trade to clear more cap space. Bartelstein said he will continue to talk to Portland, as well as other clubs over the cap, in sign-and-trade scenarios. However, the Knicks would have to agree to a sign-and-trade and are sitting pretty if Portland doesn't jump in.

SF - Webster, Batum, Outlaw
PF - LA, Outlaw, Lee
C - Oden, Pryz, Lee
So they pick up Miller instead. Then the back court is even better with about the same front court. Portland can not go wrong with either one of these guys. And as good as Philly is getting, Miller is not going to win a championship there anytime soon. Lebron and Howard own the East. The West will transition over the next two years. Portland, NO, Utah, a couple others are on the verge of hitting their prime.

PF-Aldridge

If Lee is added, he will have to come off the bench 8 minutes in the game for Aldridge.
Portland needs a quality SF or PG.
Hard to trade Outlaw or Batum both young and promising, and Webster got signed and is off an injury to prove himself, so I say, get a PG like Andre Miller, who is unselfish and is not as old as Kidd...
Bibby is staying in Atlanta, that's too bad, he would work great with the Blazers.
Greg, LaMarcus, Millsap, Roy, Blake.
Joel,Outlaw, Batum, Rudy, Bayless.
Let them work for starting roles..

FYI: Donnie Walsh has drafted, Al Harrington, Johnathan Bender, Jamaal Tinsley, Dale Davis, Antonio Davis,
and 10 other African American players that have been busts and or head cases. HE traded for Ron Artest, Jermaine O'Niell, & Stepven Jackson. Donnie Walsh hired Issiah Thomas in Indiana, and refused to leave the GM job in Indiana so Bird could be the GM.
Where in the he*l do you come up with a statement like "if he were in the draft, and was from Italy or Spain Walsh would be drooling all over him"? Dino Gallianari is the only foreign born player the Knicks have drafted since Walsh became GM, and that was because D'Antoni insisted.
Issiah Thomas drafted David Lee with a late 2nd round pick. But 1st he wasted a 1st round lottery pick on Ronaldo Balkman. Get your stories straight, Then come back.

Did you go to the Charles Barkley/Kenny Smith scool of Stupidity? The NBA is not a fantasy league. Although it is scripted like the WWE, What David Lee is worth to the Knicks is what matters, not what Portland or another team is willing to pay him.
Letting a player go that led the NBA in double-doubles in hopes of hitting the lottery jackpot next year would be a move that you would make. Go ahead, name all of the African American players that you would rather see on the Knicks than David Lee. WTF? Are you channeling leslie d?
