The reps for LaMarcus Aldridge(notes) have been talking about a contract extension with the Portland Trail Blazers since July and they need to sign a deal by midnight on Halloween to keep their man from turning into a restricted free agent next summer. It's not looking likely that will happen.
The deal that's been negotiated apparently will start next year and net Aldridge $65 million over five seasons, according to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski. The word is that there are incentives in there that could have him earn another $5 million. Not too shabby for a 24-year-old college dropout during a crummy economy.
Aldridge has apparently verbally agreed to the deal and just has to sign on that dotted line so Blazers fans can start celebrating.
