Portland Trail Blazers center Greg Oden(notes) was the first overall pick in the 2007 draft, but the Indianapolis native hasn't had a stellar time since. He missed what would have been his rookie season after microfracture surgery on his right knee. The following season, he missed chunks of time with various injuries, including a chipped knee cap. In December of 2009, he was taken off the court on a stretcher and missed the rest of the season with a fractured left patella. Then in November of last year, he had microfracture surgery again.
Since signing, Oden has played in 82 regular-season games, averaging 9.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game. Now the Oregonian reports that Oden is ready to get out of Portland and "feels like he'll sign the qualifying offer from the Blazers, play one season, then become an unrestricted free agent."
