Billups recovering well, sits for clincher versus Magic

Detroit Pistons point guard Chauncey Billups felt encouraged when he took part in Tuesday morning's shoot-around, but ultimately he decided he wasn't ready to play on his strained right hamstring. He sat out Game 5, giving rookie guard Rodney Stuckey his second postseason start.

"My improvement today from yesterday was amazing," Billups said. "It was amazing, but I still haven't been able to sprint full-court, and that's a concern -- especially out here trying to do what we do. That's a concern. ... I was very encouraged today with what I was able to do. I'm getting better, I'm just not quite ready yet."

Team strength and conditioning coach Arnie Kander has told Billups he can't further injure the hamstring, but Billups is hesitant to put that to the test in a game — not when he hasn't been able to sprint full-court or play one-on-one in a practice gym. Running corner-to-corner is "the most running I've done," Billups said.

    LA get used to it.....i you are from L.A or Louisiana....you just might be hearing in the finals.....and you you say it like a Piston fan....we have room for you on our bandwagon!!!!! good luck to your team...whoever they are.

    Just imagin if the Tigers could turn things around. Detroit is now the greatest sports city by far. I never thought I could imagin seeing both the Pistons and Wings bringing home championships in the same year! Ahhh... It's great to be from the D.

    did any of u Piston fans watch TNT lastnite & c kenny & charles send the magic fishing! that
    was sweet!! even tiger woods was in the act!! in the cleveland/boston series,will sumbody win
    a road game!!! its absolutely pathetic!!! if boston wins,they gotta know,that they might get away
    winning all home games & losing all road games against the hawks & cavs is ok but the Pistons
    know how 2 win on the road!!!

    dodjer is a moron from another planet. Billups is not a finals MVP for nothing!! Joe D has built a team that has gone to 6 straight conference finals now! Only done by a few other teams in history. You know nothing you fool. T. U, i would say the Red Wings parade is going to be bigger with the D right now being Hockeytown. GO PISTONS!!!!!!
