NBA - Sports Rumors

The point guard-needy Philadelphia 76ers have an interest in Mike Bibby(notes), however, that interst in apparently not mutual, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

According to a source with knowledge of the situation, the 76ers reached out this week to the agent for Atlanta Hawks guard Mike Bibby, only to find that the 10-year veteran is intent on staying with the team he played for the last two seasons, according to the Inquirer.

With the uncertainty of the Sixers' relationship with guard Andre Miller(notes) — he also is a free agent, and there are no signs that he plans to return — the team may be in need of a veteran point guard for first-year coach Eddie Jordan.

There is not much separating Miller, 33, and Bibby, 31, either in performance or contract requests. Bibby earned about $15 million last season, when he averaged 14.9 points and 5.0 assists and shot 39 percent from three-point range. Miller averaged 16.3 points and 6.5 assists and shot 28.3 percent from beyond the arc while earning around $10 million, the Inquirer reported.

Why doesn't any of these guards want to play for the Sixers... their players have obviously changed... D Sixers is a very team-oriented squad. Bibby can definately elevate the Sixers, but damn... I guess he is gonna go down to Cleveland and join the Big Cry Baby who has been busy kiss-assing to the king.

Note to Bibby, the team has to have interest in you as well. ATL just got Jamal Crawford, looks like he's going to be the PG next to Joe Johnson. With Crawford's contract, don't think they're going to shell out big bucks for you (Bibby) as well.

Anyone that says bring back Ivey is out of their friggin' minds and has a -80 IQ! The guy isn't a point guard, nor would he EVER make a good one! He's a scorer, plain and simple. He sucks at running offensive plays for someone else. He needs to be the one that the play is run for.

The only reason Bibby would be a halfway decent signing is because he can shot, other than that, he wouldnt be a good pickup. If we miss on Miller, I say go after Sessions from the Bucks. Too bad hes an RFA though...

Trade Dalembert? King Greight your sniffing something. We need to keep Dalembert. One of the reasons we brung in Brand to help out Dalembert in the low post. If we trade off Dalembert who is goint to be our center. Ratliff? Bibby is dumb, he is going to be a back up in Atlanta behind Crawford. but he will not stay in Atlanta their going to trade him off to either the thunder or Milwaukee. He should of took the sixers offer

I know we need a vet but keep your eye on Holiday. I hope we keep Miller and bringing back Iverson would be a big mistake. Iverson has proved every where he goes he isn't a team player and never will be. get excited about Holiday. And hope Kopono is for real. With Brand 100% and Smith coming back we will be getting big quick. If we play it right we will have twin towers in the middle for a few plays with Dalembert and smith 6'11 and 7'

Looking at all these teams trying to add players with the MLE you come up with 2 players both earning way too much to even be considered by most teams at all. Now for A.Miller at 33 making 10 mil maybe you could get him but I really can't see Bibby at 31 making 15 mil doing that. The only way would be if nobody wanted either forcing them into grabbing a 1 year deal or a 3 year deal with annual raises. As a Cavs fan Bibby was rumored to be coming here for years. Miller was here & a very good player. Teaming him with M.Williams & D.West dosen't answer the big defensive guard they need. However getting better defensive upfront dosen't put small guards guarding 6'10" forwards like the Cavs were forced to do in the playoffs. Adding Shaq changes alot in the defensive scheme.

when I see # 10 say " trade Dalembert and get a point guard" and #11 and others talk about bringing back Iverson, I have to believe they are handing out free crack at Penns Landing with the fireworks......NOBODY wants Dalembert and NOBODY is going to pay Iverson what he THINKS he's worth.......Its a new day in the NBA, and a lot of guys are gonna be sitting out next year unless they understand the new economics in the league........the Sixers went young and should stay the course going younger and hope Elton Brand is not a bust!
