After he was selected second overall by the Miami Heat, forward Michael Beasley said one of his first goals was to prove to NBA evaluators he would turn out to be the best player in his draft. Beasley won't have to wait long to begin that process. Beasley and the Heat will face No. 1 pick Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls on Monday on the opening day of the Orlando Pro Summer League.

The Heat will hold its first minicamp practice Wednesday in preparation for the five-games-in-five-days schedule in Orlando. Joining Beasley on the Heat's summer-league roster are second-round pick Mario Chalmers and returning players Daequan Cook, Stephane Lasme and Kasib Powell.

Heat assistant Keith Askins will coach the summer-league team, which includes several other notables on the roster. Among them are former St. Joseph's forward Pat Calathes, an older brother of Florida guard Nick Calathes, former Louisville center David Padgett and former Davidson guard Jason Richards, who ranked among the nation's leaders in assists last season. After Monday's game against the Bulls, the Heat plays games in consecutive days against the Nets, Pacers, Sonics and Magic.

Heat should try to sign a short term contract with Shaun Livingston for aprox. 2 million.....
Then throw the rest of our our cash at Nenad Krystic.... aprox. 4 million.....
The heats biggest worry would be at the centre position, we can always easily resign J.Will with a slight pay-cut, but Krystic would help the heat a lot at both ends, just a big pressence is what the heat needs...
TBH I have no idea how much Nenad will want to get paid, but just took a guess at 4 million.

I like the Livingston call....was thinking that myself. Kristic would be good teamed with Zo. You know his presense will be fealt at the Defensive end. Kristic would be nice offesively since he can hit the mid-range jumper and post up....I like it!

ARROYO AND RATLIFF ARE THE BEST FITS.
ARROYO, WADE, MATRIX, BEASLEY AND THE UNDERRATED BUT EFFICIENT MARK BLOUNT can make a lot of noise and still have a respectable bench in Haslem, Mourning, Ratliff, Davis and others. All of this without much investment and with trading chips available for the market, think about it........

schillinfl2 is wrong - Beasley won't win ROY, but neither will Rose...it's going to be Oden. Since he didn't play last year, he is still considered a rookie & eligible for ROY. Curious to see if he'll play on the Rookie or Sophomore team during All-Star weekend.
Sefalosha will be Most Improved Player this year and take the starting job within the 1st month or so of the regular season.

hey schillinfl2. Ever watch college basketball? Beasley has great scoring and rebounding ability, but does he have the playmaking ability of Rose? Rose has great scoring and passing (assisting) and pretty good rebounding for a PG, espiacally for a rookie. Beasley can't pass (assist) and doesn't have as good view as Rose. So Rose is going to be ROY if he can perform better than Oden (which he can).

Michael Beasley has more heart than oden and skills meaning a good basketball IQ. Rose will be a superstar in a few years he needs to develop a jump shot. Beasley will win the ROY award because he is more HUNGRY for it I am pretty sure of it What do you think am I making any sense?

I disagree with Beasley ROY, since he was taken to the hospital because he took an elbow to the chest. He seems to be weak to me since he is getting a big time contract. In college he was a stud, but so far he hasnt done much.
