Kaman leads Clippers in 118-90 win

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP)—Chris Kaman(notes) and Baron Davis(notes) are starting to connect and that’s good news for the Los Angeles Clippers center.

Kaman had 22 points and nine rebounds in 28 minutes and the Clippers ended a seven-game losing streak in the Oakland Arena with a 118-90 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Friday night.

“I’m getting better at feeling out his game,” Kaman said of his relationship with the point guard. “I didn’t get to do a lot of that last year. I’m getting more comfortable playing with him and I’m trying to be ready when he throws the ball. He makes great plays and I just try to recover, get the ball and put it in the basket.”

Davis scored 16 of his 25 points in the third quarter as the Clippers won their second straight after opening the season with four losses. Eric Gordon(notes) added 25 points for Los Angeles and DeAndre Jordan(notes) scored all 13 of his points in the fourth quarter. Sebastian Telfair(notes) also scored 13 points for the Clippers.

“We had to have good shots,” Davis said. “Chris Kaman was able to be that big body and get some nice baskets for us.”

Anthony Morrow(notes) had 18 points and Stephen Jackson(notes) added 17 for the Warriors, who were coming off their first win of the season. Anthony Randolph(notes) had 13 points and 14 rebounds for Golden State, while Monta Ellis(notes) added 14 points and Kelenna Azubuike(notes) 13.

“Sometimes the effort is there but we’re four games into the season and we’ve got guys hurt already,” Jackson said. “It’s a terrible start and that does nothing but get contagious. If you’re going to blame somebody, I’ll take the blame. I’ve been doing it since I got here.”

The Warriors made just 6 of 21 shots in the third quarter and were outscored 34-16.

The Clippers, who were playing for the first time since beating Minnesota on Monday night, shot 67 percent from the field in the first quarter and opened a double-digit lead which they never lost.

“Really we just fell apart,” Morrow said. “It was a tough night. It’s the NBA. It happens sometimes.”

Warriors starting center Mikki Moore(notes) was no match for Kaman, who is enjoying his best start to a season. Moore, a 12-year veteran, was limited to two missed shots, four rebounds and four personal fouls in his 18 minutes.

“We were able to pound them in the paint because we knew they had some injuries with some of their bigs,” Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy said. “We have the tendency to get careless, but not tonight.”

Jackson took exception to the fans’ reception of Davis, who was making his second appearance in Oakland since leaving the Warriors. Davis was booed every time he touched the ball.

“Baron is a great player,” Jackson said. “What upsets me is they boo him but they have short memories. They forgot the reason they’re still coming here is because of what he did when he was here. The organization was in the trash can before we had that year.”

The Clippers took a 91-61 lead into the final quarter and rested most of their starters in the fourth quarter with a Saturday night game looming against Memphis in the Staples Center.

Gordon and Kaman combined to shoot nearly 69 percent (11 of 16) while the rest of the team shot 50 percent (10 of 20) in the first half as the Clippers built a 19-point lead before settling for a 57-45 lead at halftime.

NOTES: Warriors C Andris Biedrins(notes) missed the game with a sore back and F Ronny Turiaf(notes) missed his second straight due to a left knee sprain. … Kaman has scored more than 20 points in five straight games. … Clippers F Rasual Butler(notes) is seven points shy of 4,000. … Warriors rookie PG Stephen Curry(notes) fouled out with 7:19 left in the fourth quarter. … The Clippers scored a season-high and held their opponent to a season-low.

Trade for Marko Jaric so we at least might see Adrianna Lima at The Warrior games. That would probably be best thing about buying a ticket this year.

Can stephen jackson just go away. If they are going to grow as a team this selfish baby needs to go. Yeah yeah they're the worst team blablabla, cowen, sell, fire, never win, worst ever,,,,,, please just turn the page on Jackson. If a guy like that was on my team, somebody who I knew thought we as a team were not good enough to play for and with I would have a lot of trouble playing with him. He is so fricken selfish, and a big baby to boot. He is not the only problem but right now he is the biggest problem. Send him to the hornets for a bowl of Gumbo. Bench Big Baby J.

Great game, Clips. Kaman is playing like the best center in the league with diverse shots looking unstoppable. Camby with the blocks and smarts. Baron has been playing great D and showing some heart this year. Gordon with that pure jumper is an offensive machine. Get healthy Blake and let's make a run at this thing. Go Clips!

First to one hundred wins. It's the Law.

Well the Warriors have proven early on that they have passed the Clippers as the worst franchise in pro basketball..I am certain that Rowell and Nelson are happy as clams that the Warriors have taken their rightful place as the worst and most dysfunctional franchise you could ever imagine..The players don't want to play for Nelson, they don't want to be on the team, and they will do what is necessary to get the hell out of Oakland..Instead of basketball, what you get from the Warriors is extreme drama, players pouting on the bench, not listening to Nelson during timeouts, and generally looking like they would rather be anywhere else, than a member of this team..

It will be interesting to see if they tank the game against the Kings coming up without Kevin Martin..

Do these players hate Nelson and the front office so much, that they will tank and make sure that the old drooling goat doesn't get his 24 wins??

    Stay tuned!!

Watch out for the Snow Man he is balling now Baron and the Snowman have finally clicked. The Clips will be scary this year they are starting to realize they have talent and they also have a rookie who has a killer instinct can't wait to see Blake Dunk on the League this year and with Gordan, The Snow man and the Baron watch out for the Clips. You might see this western conference finals Lakers vs Clippers yeah I said if it happens I won't be surprised.

Clippers playing well especially with Kaman at center. Gordon playing in his second year appears to be shooting well and without sophomore jinx so far. Thornton and Camby are good players and both can step up their games another notch. When Griffin comes back from his injury, this Clippers team should be able to make the playoffs this year.

I agree it was bad of the fans to boo Davis. Nellie wanted him out and they didn't want to give him a better contract but instead swap with the Clips for injury prone Magette for essentially what Davis was asking for??? If anything, they should have been booing Jackson!! And poor rookie Curry fouling out, not a good start to your rookie of the year campaign. Here's your lineup: Ellis, Randolf, Buki, Biedrins, Morrow! Here's your bench: Curry, Buki, Jackson, Turiaf, Magette. This is going to be another long, sad season.

Nelson will not get his 24 wins with this atrocity..Hey season ticket holders, how are you feeling about your investment?? Its a great time out..

This is exactly the karma that Cohan and the weasel deserve for their treatment of Mully..I hope they lose 70 games..

Rock bottom? Getting blown out at home against the clippers...Oakland is officially the most depressing sports city in the country (maybe the entire world)! Between the A's, raiders and the Warriors...I'm surprised the ground underneath the East Bay hasn't caved in yet...Deep ocean explorers will find these 3 franchises at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean 3 years from now!

BTW--jivepar and drutherford33...you guys are fu**in' funny! Nelson might crap in his pants more times than his team will get wins!!!

Ever notice when Nellie is sitting on the bench he is basically just drooling on himself?

Obviously, he should play Randolph, but hoping for it is a waste of time. AR is clearly one of the teams most productive players, and particularly in areas of rebounding, blocking shots and high percentage scoring. Everyone in the league knows this kid will produce if given the minutes, but Nellie just has him in the doghouse.

Seriously? 4 guards and Miki Moore? Yeah, that lineup has a shot to win. Nellie knows AR will shine if he gets 30 minutes and for some reason he doesn't want to see it.

Its a shame, I'd be a season ticket holder if any sane person was coach......sad situation.
