Jamal Mashburn looks to continue providing the New Orleans Hornets with the extra weapon they were lacking during his absence when they visit the Memphis Grizzlies.

Mashburn scored 22 points as New Orleans snapped Eastern Conference-leading Indiana’s four-game winning streak with a 89-77 victory on Friday night. It marked the sixth game in a row that Mashburn scored at least 20 points.

The 11-year veteran has played in just 13 games since returning from an injury to his right knee suffered during training camp. But Mashburn has settled in nicely alongside All-Stars Baron Davis and Jamaal Magliore in the team’s offense, averaging 20.6 points per game.

“My goal is to help this team win games,” Mashburn said.

The Hornets have won four of their last six games, and are one game ahead of Milwaukee for fourth place in the East.

Memphis is coming off a 106-104 loss at Milwaukee on Friday night. James Posey had 25 points and 10 rebounds, but the Grizzlies lost for the first time all season when shooting better than 50 percent from the field.

It was also only the second time Memphis lost when scoring 100 points.

Bonzi Wells added 19 points for the Grizzlies, who have dropped two in a row since a five-game winning streak. Memphis, seeking its first-ever playoff berth, is tied with Houston for sixth place in the Western Conference.
