MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE (TICKER) —The Memphis Grizzlies try to win for the ninth time in 12 games and damage the Phoenix Suns’ playoff aspirations when they conclude their season series at The Pyramid on Wednesday.
The Grizzlies, who are well out of the playoff race, shut down Tracy McGrady in the second half of a 110-104 victory at Orlando on Monday for an eighth win in 11 contests.
Phoenix is in a tight race with Houston for the eighth and final Western Conference playoff spot. The Suns are currently in ninth place, one game behind the Rockets, who hold the tiebreaker edge. Both teams have 12 games remaining.
The Suns have lost back-to-back contests and six of nine. On Monday, Phoenix lost at home to Seattle, 82-73.
The home team has won each of the first three meetings this season, with Memphis posting a 102-94 triumph here on December 8.
The Suns are 24-6 all time against the Grizzlies, including 11-3 on the road.
The Grizzlies have only split their season series with the Suns once, during the 1996-97 campaign.
