LOS ANGELES (TICKER) —The Los Angeles Clippers try to beat the Denver Nuggets for the seventh time in nine meetings when the bottom two teams in the Western Conference match up at the Staples Center on Wednesday.
Denver won the first contest between the teams this season, 72-70 at home on November 22, but Los Angeles countered with a 92-89 triumph here on December 21 for its fourth win in five games and sixth of eight in the series.
The Clippers lost for the 12th time in 14 games on Monday with a 102-85 setback to Staples Center co-tenants the Los Angeles Lakers.
Andre Miller led six Clippers in double figures with 15 points but the team shot just 42 percent and allowed the Lakers to sink 51 percent of their attempts.
The Clippers trailed by just two points with seven minutes remaining but were blown out down the stretch.
The Nuggets, who have the worst record in the West at 14-53, have lost back-to-back games and 17 of 19.
On Tuesday, Denver lost at Utah, 99-81, in the opener of a three-game road trip.
Juwan Howard scored 16 points to pace the Nuggets, who allowed the Jazz to shoot 52 percent.
