LOS ANGELES (TICKER) —The Los Angeles Lakers try to sweep Staples Center co-tenants the Los Angeles Clippers for the fourth time in six seasons when they continue their season-high six-game road trip on Monday.
The Lakers have won 22 of the last 24 meetings between the teams, including the first three this season. In the other “road” contest, on November 1, the Lakers prevailed, 108-93.
The Clippers, who are just 18-72 against the Lakers since moving to Los Angeles from San Diego prior to the 1984-85 season, won one game each of the last two seasons but were swept the prior three campaigns.
After losing the opening two games of their trip, the Lakers have responded with back-to-back wins, including a 98-94 triumph at Milwaukee on Saturday.
The Clippers had lost three in a row and 11 of 12 before edging Toronto on Sunday, 111-110.
Lamar Odom, who paced the Clippers with 25 points, scored the go-ahead basket on a jumper with 2.3 seconds left.
The Clippers, who shot 51 percent but allowed the Raptors to connect on 54 percent, have not won back-to-back games since January 8-10.
