HOUSTON (TICKER) —The Houston Rockets try to extend their winning streak to a season-high five games and win a crucial series finale against the Phoenix Suns on Sunday at the Compaq Center.

The Rockets have tied a season high with four straight wins on the heels of a four-game losing streak. They are trying to win five in a row for the first time since April 5-13, 2000.

Houston’s surge has moved it into a tie with Phoenix for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. The Rockets have won two of three meetings with the Suns this season.

Houston improved to 3-0 on a four-game homestand with a 121-91 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Friday.

James Posey scored a season-high 26 points and Steve Francis added 23 for the Rockets, who matched their highest score and most lopsided win of the season.

Houston has won four of its last five games at the Compaq Center and is 23-11 at home this season.

Phoenix avoided a three-game losing streak with a 109-84 victory over Sacramento on Thursday.

Shawn Marion scored 18 of his 27 points in the third quarter and Stephon Marbury scored 26 for the Suns, who won for just the fourth time in 11 games.

Phoenix has lost four of its last six road games and is just 11-21 away from home this season.
