MILWAUKEE (TICKER) —The Milwaukee Bucks try to defeat the San Antonio Spurs for a seventh straight time when the teams match up on Tuesday at the Bradley Center.
The Bucks, who are meeting the Spurs for the first time this season, swept the previous three season series. San Antonio last defeated Milwaukee on March 18, 1998, posting a 96-85 victory here.
Milwaukee has won its last two contests, including a 138-133 overtime triumph over Golden State on Saturday.
Sam Cassell scored five of his 28 points on free throws in the final 18 seconds and Gary Payton added 28 points for the Bucks. Cassell also had 13 assists.
The Bucks, who had six players scored at least 17 points, erased a 16-point deficit in the final 9 1/2 minutes of regulation.
Milwaukee is in eighth place in the Eastern Conference, one-half game behind Orlando and two games ahead of Washington.
San Antonio has won back-to-back games, six of seven and 15 of 17. On Sunday, the Spurs opened a three-game road trip with a 94-78 victory over Boston.
Tim Duncan collected 18 points and eight rebounds and Stephen Jackson and Kevin Willis added 15 points apiece for the Spurs, who shot 53 percent and limited the Celtics to just under 40 percent.
San Antonio is 24-5 since the beginning of the year.
