PHOENIX (TICKER) —The surging New Orleans Hornets try to extend their season-high winning streak to six games when they visit the Phoenix Suns on Saturday at America West Arena.

The Hornets opened a three-game road trip with a 94-88 victory over the lowly Denver Nuggets on Friday.

Jamal Mashburn scored 24 points and David Wesley 18 for New Orleans, which connected on 16-of-19 free throws in the final 12 minutes.

The Hornets have not won six consecutive contests since a seven-game run from March 14-27, 2002.

The Suns snapped a season-high four-game losing streak with a 118-112 victory at Milwaukee on Wednesday in the final contest of a four-game road trip.

Stephon Marbury collected 41 points - 35 in the second half - seven assists and six rebounds, Joe Johnson 20 points, Shawn Marion 17 and rookie Amare Stoudemire 12 and 14 rebounds as the Suns shot 53 percent.

The Hornets defeated the Suns at home on January 20, 114-102, for their third straight win in the series.
