SAN ANTONIO (TICKER) —The San Antonio Spurs hope to avoid dropping back-to-back games for the first time in the calender year and extend the Indiana Pacers’ season-high losing streak to four games when they meet on Saturday at the SBC Center.
The Spurs, who have not lost consecutive games since December 30-31, had their season-best nine-game winning streak snapped at Dallas on Thursday, 95-87.
Malik Rose contributed 25 points and 14 rebounds but Tim Duncan, who was double-teamed all game, had just 11 and six before leaving the game for good with just over eight minutes remaining after getting poked in the right eye by Dallas’ Michael Finley.
The Spurs will have the services of center David Robinson, who was activated from the injured list Saturday. Robinson missed three games with a sore right knee and lower back spasms.
The Pacers fell to 0-3 on their four-game road trip with a 98-91 setback at New Jersey on Thursday.
The Spurs defeated the Pacers in Indiana on January 29, 106-97. San Antonio has won four of the last five meetings between the teams.
