NEW ORLEANS (TICKER) —The New Orleans Hornets try to extend their home winning streak over the Washington Wizards to five games on Wednesday at New Orleans Arena.

The Hornets have won their last four home meetings with the Wizards since losing in Charlotte on November 1, 2000. Washington was handed a 103-94 loss in its first trip here this season.

New Orleans and Washington have split two meetings this season.

The Hornets have dropped three of four games following a three-game winning streak, including a 99-94 loss to the Orlando Magic on Tuesday.

Jamal Mashburn scored 10 of his 20 points in the first quarter and P.J. Brown collected 14 points and 12 rebounds as New Orleans played without guard Courtney Alexander, who is out with a strained left groin.

Brown had made 37 consecutive free throws, six shy of the franchise record set by Dell Curry.

The Hornets have won four of their last five home games and are 19-9 here this season.

Washington completed a 1-2 road trip with a 109-77 loss to the Utah Jazz on Friday.

Larry Hughes scored 14 points as the anemic Wizards played their fifth straight game without leading scorer Jerry Stackhouse, who is sidelined with a groin injury.

Etan Thomas collected 12 points and 10 rebounds and Michael Jordan, who turned 40 on Monday, had 11 points on just 3-of-12 shooting.
