PORTLAND, OREGON (TICKER) —The New York Knicks hope Allan Houston can continue his hot shooting on Monday when they try to improve to 3-0 on their six-game road trip against the Portland Trail Blazers at the Rose Garden.

On Sunday, Houston scored a career- and NBA season-high 53 points as the Knicks defeated the Los Angeles Lakers, 117-110.

Houston shot 18-of-29 from the field and 13-of-15 from the line for the team’s first 50-point game since Patrick Ewing scored 50 against Charlotte on December 1, 1990. Houston’s previous career high was 44 vs. Milwaukee on January 12, 2002.

Latrell Sprewell added 14 points and Othella Harrington 10 for the Knicks, who have won nine of 14.

Portland ended a two-game losing streak with a 101-96 triumph over Seattle on Saturday.

Rasheed Wallace scored 27 points, Derek Anderson 20 and Dale Davis 17 with 14 rebounds for the Blazers, who have gone 23-7 since a 10-11 start.

The Blazers defeated the Knicks, 92-89, at Madison Square Garden on January 5. Portland has not swept a season series from New York since 1995-96.
