The Timberwolves seek to run their winning streak to seven games on Thursday when they visit the league-leading Dallas Mavericksin a Midwest Division matchup.
Garnett is averaging 22.2 points and 13.0 rebounds during Minnesota’s winning streak. The Timberwolves’ strong play has vaulted them into a third-place tie with Utah, two games behind San Antonio.
Garnett finished with a season-high 34 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Minnesota posted a 106-95 victory on Monday against San Antonio. Wally Szczerbiak netted 17 points for the Timberwolves in a game that featured a few near-altercations.
Minnesota has meetings with Dallas and Houston in its next five games and is 7-4 against divisional opponents.
Dallas won for the fourth time in five games with an easy 104-81 rout at Houston on Wednesday. Dirk Nowitzki poured in 34 points and Michael Finley nailed 7-of-10 from beyond the arc and added 29 for the Mavericks, who drilled 15 3-pointers.
The Mavericks are 19-3 at home and lost their last game here on Sunday against Portland. Dallas is 10-4 this month, matching its record in December.
Dallas leads Pacific Division leader Sacramento by four games for the best record in the Western Conference and is looking to widen its lead while the Kings are without All-Star Chris Webber for approximately the next three weeks.
This is the first of four meetings between the teams, which split their four contests a season ago.
