AUBURN HILLS, MICHIGAN (TICKER) —The slumping Philadelphia 76ers hope to avoid falling to the .500 mark Wednesday when they visit the Detroit Pistons, who are battling for the top record in the Eastern Conference.
The 76ers (21-20) are just 2-8 in 2003 and are coming off a heartbreaking 100-99 loss to Boston on Monday.
Allen Iverson scored 29 points to pace the Sixers, who blew a 23-point lead early in the third quarter en route to their sixth defeat in seven home games.
The Pistons have had much more success in January, winning seven of 10. On Monday, Detroit won the back end of a home-and-home series with Indiana, 88-78, to pull within 1 1/2 games of the conference-leading Pacers
The Pistons have won three in a row over the Sixers, including a 103-94 overtime triumph in Philadelphia on January 8.
