For every postseason matchup, Ball Don't Lie's resident dummy will offer a topically appropriate entry from the best-selling series of "Deep Thoughts" books written by legendary humorist Jack Handey, plus some of his own original thoughts on the playoff series. The combination will cost you…
Lamar Odom, master of his destiny and not at all a creature of habit and/or willing participant in whatever the heck Khloe Kardashian/E! Network/Ryan Seacrest Productions tell him to do, might want to play for the New York Knicks in 2012-13 and beyond. Dwight Howard, ruler of worlds, might be as…
The thought, as soon as the Los Angeles Clippers pulled off a deal for All-Star point guard Chris Paul last December, was that the Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers would no doubt meet in the playoffs at some point. That the two teams, with the Dallas Mavericks fading and the Oklahoma City Thunder…
Wow!!!
i'm proud of the mavs way to go yall got what it take to win it all. go go go mavs. good luck will be whating you all the way.,
those yahoo writer/expert etc. can u stop? most of your predictions are incorrect 98% of the time. just sit and watch the game
Go Bulls! i think Dallas will advanch to the next series i dont know against who though, even though i want the Lakers to win, but its over for them. Bulls will advance against the Heat.
peja must get minutes in order for mavs to win series. marion must be team player in order for this to happen. peja demands double team coverage from the perimeter opening the floor wide open for this veteran squad. if the coach cant make this call ? then mark cuban has to step in.
Mavs are a good team..have to go wuith the lakers in 5.....kobe's the best since mr.jordan......
Mavs will win it.....We have Dirk, the best point guard the NBA has ever seen, a bench that is deep and a desire to win as a team.....
Lakers have Kobe.....
Should be some great games to watch in these rounds....
Congratulations to the mavs. They were under some serious doubt, especially after game 4 collapse, but they played like a true championship team in the last two games. Now they have to face the Lakers. There's no hiding that this will be a very tough series. It will go down to the wire. The mavs are inconsistent, so i'm saying Lakers in 7, or Mavs in 6.
GO MAVS!!!
Bahhahaha we got big dirk, uno-uno number eleven, an an a an an and tre-tre coming off the bench hahahaha . itsgonna be haaard man but mavs are gonna uh uh u uh sweep this. hahahahaha. dirks gonna score 40 a night,he loves them balls bahahaha. chandler gonna shut down the middle an a an and rebound, hes got booty for days ha.
kobe gonna come in the paint? no! no!!!! hes not allowed in the paint. bahahahaha.im feeling real philisophical about this tho.
yes im fired up!
It'll be a tough fight, I just feel that it'll boil down to the refs and stern if they favored LA to win it all. Let the players play and see what happens.
simply put: for all you screw offs who doubted the mavericks ability to take out the portland trailblazers...... (expletive) all of you pathetic losers!
@ "Lakers 3rd 3peat"; not "hating" (I have too much respect for the Lakers), but here it is:
1) When did Kidd "avg 30 points a game?" Points from Kidd should be considered a bonus.
2) With the exception of Game 5, Chandler's numbers were pedestrian at best...and the Mavs still beat Portland.
3) The Mavs' "third scorer" comes from a smorgasbord of players...It might be Stojakovic one day, Marion another day and Barea yet another day. Have fun figuring out which one it will be. Again, points from Kidd should be considered a bonus.
4) Nowitzki will never be a shut-down defender. He doesn't need to be. But, he is a lot better than he used to be. The Lakers have their Gasol, the Mavs have their Nowitzki. Which one is better, I wonder.
5) How did the "Zen Master" do against NO? Most "experts" had the Lakers winning in 4.
Lets face it, the Lakers have not looked right since they hammered the Mavs. They appeared think that they won the championship right then and there. They have been emotionally hungover. From that point on, the Lakers appeared to be mailing it in. Will they be able to pick it up a notch? ...or is that all there is? The only hope the Lakers have is that the Mavs have not been setting the world on fire either. Still, I think this is where the Lakers' trail ends.
Lakers in 4.
Unlike Kenny said, it's not the question of rebounds in the matchup, it's the question of points in the paint. The LL lead the series in points in the paint. That's the most important.
The LL are, although the Mavs can match them lengthwise, a nightmare for a jumpshooting team. The Lakers can send PG, RA and LO on Dirk. There's not even teh need to double him. And even if he has a statline 30-12 the rest is troubling. Kidd, PS and SM are the keys for this matchup. Terry will be off this series. Kobe and Fisher will guard him, and I don't have much hope that he'll be consistent enough. They'll try to make Dirk work in defense with Pau and Lamar.
If Stevenson, Chandler can get Bynum and Pau into early foul trouble then Mavs has a chance to make this a series. And actually the Mavs have no one to guard Kobe. Marion would've been an option, but he's not having the quick feed anymore...
It's not an afterthough yet, but the odds...
I hope it'll go 7 but, I think we'll be done in 5!
my lil sis cracked me up when she said mavs in 4 lol but im a mavs fan and i did predict mavs in 6 against the blazers and i will predict again the same mavs in 6 cheyaa =D
yahoo has the biggest @#$% posters ive ever seen. Opinions are like buttholes....everyone has one no matter how crappy they are. I wish free speech was done away with.
Mavs in 6.
Mavs fans seem to have a short term memory... Last meeting with the Lakers, 110-82 victory over the Mavs. 5 ejections in that game. I'm not quite sure that the Mavs match up like everyone is claiming.
The Mavs can win this series. And they'll have the meltdown in Game 4 in Portland to thank for it. It's that old adage "Whatever doesn't kill you only makes you stronger." And when Rick Carlisle apologized to his team after that loss, this immediately became a different basketball team, this team can play defense and they will be playing with that tremendous chip on their shoulder that they showed in Games 5 and 6.
pojp
If only the Mavs can learn from defensive teams like the Bulls now and the old Spurs teams, then they will have a chance against the Lakers. If however, they play the same style that they are doing day in and day out, then the Lakers will eat them alive.
The definition of "faker" for all you half-wit non-Laker fans and your feeble misapplication of the term:
"One that is not authentic or genuine; a sham..."
L.A. not only appears in the Finals frequently, but they also WIN. Dallas has won little to nothing thus proving themselves qualified for the definition of the word "faker"...
