Thornton was held to six points in 16 minutes of the Clippers' 113-110 win over the Grizzlies on Saturday night. Advice: Thornton has played a remarkably small role for the Clippers this season after starting 67 of his 71 games in his sophomore season in 2008-09. Even with Blake Griffin sidelined by a knee injury, the 14th overall pick in the 2007 draft has averaged 7.3 points and shot 37.3 percent from the field in 25.3 minutes per game. Thornton scored 16.8 per game last season. |

Thornton missed practice on Thursday due to an illness, the Los Angeles Times reports. Recommendation: He traveled with the Clippers to the Bay Area Thursday for Friday night's contest against Golden State, but he is not expected to start once again. As was the case in Monday's win over Minnesota, the plan is for Thornton to come off the bench, backing up Rasual Butler. |

F Al Thornton had an up-and-down performance versus the Dallas Mavericks Saturday. He finished with six points and six rebounds and had trouble converting inside in the first quarter, as he had a couple of shots sent back by the Dallas bigs. Thornton has yet to have a breakout game in 2009-2010, and the Clippers will need him to be the scorer he was last season as Blake Griffin recovers from his injury. |
