Tinsley had 16 points (5-8 FG, 2-4 3pt, 4-4 FT) to go with five assists and a block in the Grizzlies' win over the Blazers Friday. Recommendation: This was the first game Tinsley received more minutes than starter Mike Conley (26 to 22), and he outpaced the incumbent in the important categories as well. He should become the starter before long. |

G Jamaal Tinsley, whose career was almost derailed after off-the-court problems led the Pacers to ban him from the team last year, then buy out his contract in July, has happily found a home with the Grizzlies. Tinsley, 31, was signed about two weeks ago when Allen Iverson went AWOL from the Grizzlies before the team released him. In his last three games, Tinsley is averaging 11.6 points and 3.3 assists, and shooting 52.2 percent from the field. He had 16 points and five assists in 26 minutes in Friday night's victory at Portland. He has gotten progressively better as he has worked himself back in shape. "It's just nice to have a veteran who understands. He's out there controlling things," coach Lionel Hollins said. |
