C Antonio McDyess seems to have found a home as the starting center with the season about a month old. Spurs coach Gregg Popovich opened the season with the 3-point shooting Matt Bonner as the starter at center and has also used Theo Ratliff. But it's McDyess who seems to have won the position. He started for the sixth time Thursday and his 15 points and 14 rebounds at Houston are a good indication why. McDyess has been slightly better as a starter, averaging 7.0 and 6.4 rebounds in 24.2 minutes compared to 6.7 points and 5.1 rebounds in 19.0 minutes when he's come off the bench. |

McDyess notched his first double-double of the season in Friday's win against the Rockets, finishing with 15 points and 14 rebounds on 6-of-11 shooting. Recommendation: McDyess has been a disappointment this year as he is seeing just 22 minutes of action per game. The Spurs have opted for a full four-man rotation of big men, a move that has cut McDyess' minutes in favor of Matt Bonner and DeJuan Blair. |
