Orlando Fan: Nelson Creates Magic with 3-point Shot to Win
Jameer Nelson(notes) looked overpowered as the clock ticked down on Friday night at the Amway Center. With only 5.7 seconds left to play, the score was tied at 82-82. Then from the top of the key, Nelson took his shot at 1.5 seconds left and hit the winning 3-point shot to a roaring home crowd of 19,000 plus fans.
Orlando Magic - free throws away
The Magic was down to the wire at the end of the fourth quarter and could have taken more of a lead and not have to be dependent on Nelson's one shot if they could just get their free throws in the basket. Dwight Howard(notes) has always had issues with his free throws, that's why the opposing teams take advantage of that fact.
Howard missed both free throws when they led by three with one minute and 44 seconds left in the game. The Magic had another opportunity to but Brandon Bass(notes) also missed 2-of-2 with a two point lead and 24.3 seconds left in the fourth. With 14.2 seconds left in the game, the Magic once again could have redeemed themselves however, Hedo Turkoglu(notes) also missed both of his free throws. It was enough to make anyone pull their hair out and yell argh!
Denver Nuggets - better without Anthony and Billups
The Magic led by a few points throughout the game but the Denver Nuggets were consistently on their heels, even without Carmelo Anthony(notes) and Chauncey Billups(notes). Both were traded last month. In fact the Nuggets were trying for their fifth straight win when they met the Magic. It seems that the Nuggets have improved since the trade and their wins have proved that.
Kenyon Martin(notes) of the Nuggets said, "It's fun to play basketball the right way…When everybody's out there sharing the ball, everybody's involved, it just makes everyone want to play that much harder on the defensive end."
