Yahoo! Contributor NetworkBest sports bars in Los Angeles
Los Angeles is home to a dizzying array of sports teams. The Dodgers, Lakers, Kings, and even the Clippers are all loved. Even the Anaheim Angels and Oakland Raiders have a lot of fans here. I'm a Dodgers fan since they moved from Brooklyn in the 1950s and also love the Purple and Gold, the colors of the world championship Los Angeles Lakers, who will win another ring this year, just wait. My son went to UCLA so we also follow UCLA football.
Here are the top five all around sports bars in Los Angeles, places you can always have a great time, no matter what team you root for and whether you are a local or just visiting from out of town.

Barney's Beanery
Our first choice is Barney's Beanery, specifically the Pasadena location. Its right on Colorado Blvd. in the newly developed Old Town district, which is great for restaurants and just walking around. They have a great bar and tons of big TVs. They also have one of the largest menus in town, with pretty much any type of food you could imagine, all available for eating during the game.

ESPN Zone
This is a new corporate bar, part of several kind of test locations opened by ESPN before a full national roll-out. The LA Live location of the ESPN Zone is filled with big screen TVs but its very corporate and has a lot of fans in suits, as its in the downtown Los Angeles business area. The food is average, think Hooters type fare, and the service is not too good either. You are just across the street from the Staples Center, where the Lakers play and also the new LA Live shopping and entertainment outdoor mall complex. We like this place because its usually not too crowded, except for Lakers games.

Big Wang's
This is a newer chain of wild sports bars and they are quite popular. Our son frequents the location in downtown Los Angeles, but we prefer the one in Hollywood. Yes, its always packed, but that's because they have a lot to offer. The food is really good, even basic stuff is nicely made and they literally could not fit any more big screen TVs in here. Every inch is covered with sports. I would avoid this place on Friday or Saturday nights as its also a hot spot, but for afternoon games its a great place to watch.

Bicycle Club Casino
A casino in Los Angeles? Yes, they've had them for years, mainly offering poker and related games. But they also have some great dining and great sports action. We like the Bicycle Club Casino in Bell Gardens, CA, about 20 minutes south of downtown Los Angeles. They have three big, full bars, we like the Player's Bar. It's filled with big screen TV and fans from all over the country and the world. Its a great Los Angeles sports bar and something a little different from the typical place filled with drunk fans. This is filled with drunk gamblers!

E.B.'s Beer & Wine
The Farmer's Market in Los Angeles is an institution, something that started as a group of farmers coming to a local dirt lot in the 1920's to sell their produce, now grown into a hot shopping destination that now includes the chic Grove shopping district with today's top stores. There is still an old, historic section of the original farmer's market and smack in the middle is E.B.'s Beer and Wine, named for the market's founder, Earl B. Gilmore. They have great brews and wines and show all the big sporting events on flat screen TVs. You also have all the great food of the farmer's market around you to snack on.
