Bulls Defeat 76ers 96-91: Fan Reaction
The Bulls started off slowly and the game was tight in the first quarter. Derrick Rose hit seven points and pulled the team ahead at 8:11. It was a very offensive quarter as the teams exchanged leads and ties but shooting by Carlos Boozer gave the Bulls a three-point advantage at 3:12.
They ended the first quarter leading 26-24.
In the second quarter, the 76ers stepped up defensively and had Rose's number. The Bench Mob took over but watched the 76ers take a four-point lead at 8:30. Both teams went cold and with less than four minutes remaining, the home team had a seven-point lead. They appeared pesky and outrebounded the Bulls.
The 76ers entered halftime leading 46-40. In the first half, Rose scored 15 points.
The Bulls returned from the break and were cold, going a few minutes without a field goal. Rose kicked his team into gear and at 5:28 it was a one-point game. The Bulls briefly took back the lead at 3:44.
The 76ers weren't going to give up easily. At the end of the third quarter, it was 64-64.
For the final quarter, the Bulls came out charging and took an 81-68 lead by 7:52 thanks to three-pointers by Luol Deng. This didn't last long as the 76ers stormed back with a 10-1 run, coming within two points at the 2:30 mark.
The Bulls maintained their lead but it came down to the end. With 20 seconds left at 91-89, Rose hit a shot to get the Bulls ahead 93-89. Joakim Noah hit two free throws with two seconds left to secure the win.
The Good…Rose was driven to avenge the team's previous 18-point loss to the 76ers. Mission accomplished.
The Bad…The Bulls played erratically and gave up a 13-point lead.
Next up? The Bulls will play the Pacers on Monday, March 5.
As a lifelong Bulls fan and Chicago resident, the Derrick Rose era has been a good one.
