Jeremy Lin Makes Game-Winning Three for Knicks Sixth Straight Win: Fan’s View

Just when you think you have seen it all with Jeremy Lin, he does a Cool Hand Luke act and as calmly as you please sinks a clutch thee-point shot with 0.5 seconds left on the clock to give the New York Knicks their sixth straight win. For the second game in a row, the Knicks trailed for most of last night's game on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 vs the Toronto Raptors in Toronto.

Knicks Trailed Raptors for Most of the Game

The Knicks trailed the Raptors, 28-21, after the first period, and 47-36 at the half. They outscored the Raptors by two in the third period, to enter the fourth down nine at 75-66. But then the Knicks kept clawing away at the lead. Rookie Iman Shumpert made a huge steal with under two minutes left in the game, and dunked the ball to get the Knicks to within three points at 87-84.

Jeremy Lin Tied the Score by Driving the Lane and Getting Fouled for Three-Point Play

After a Toronto miss, Jeremy Lin drove the lane and made short shot and got fouled on the play. He made the free throw for the three-point play to tie the game at 87 all. Leandro Barbosa then missed a three for the Raptors, and the Knicks got the rebound. Shumpert missed a jumper for the Knicks, but Tyson Chandler grabbed a huge rebound and threw the ball out to Jeremy Lin.

With the shot clock turned off, Lin just held the ball for the last shot. With the score tied, I think everyone in the house, including defender Jose Calderon, thought Jeremy Lin would drive to the basket. But Lin just calmly dribbled up and took one last step towards the three-point line and instead of driving to the basket stepped into a three and let it fly for the game winner.

Jeremy Lin Shows He is One Cool Customer by Calmly Making Game-Winning Three

That was one of the coolest last second shots you'll ever see. You've got to be one cool customer to just win a game like that. The Raptors did inbound the ball with 0.5 seconds left, but Rasual Butler's airball fell well short of the mark, and the Knicks walked away with their sixth straight win.

Jeremy Lin Had Game High 27 Points and Career High 11 Assists

For the Knicks, Jeremy Lin scored a game high 27 points, including 12 in the fourth quarter, and dished out a career high 11 assists. Amare Stoudemire returned to action following the death of his brother, and scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Tyson Chandler added 13 points and nine rebounds, while Iman Shumpert only had eight points, but he also had four steals, including the big one late in the fourth quarter.

For the Raptors, Jose Calderon had 25 points, nine assists and seven rebounds. Linas Kleiza came off the bench to score 15 points and grab a game high 11 rebounds, while DeMar DeRozan chipped in with 14 points. The loss had to be tough for the Raptors after they led the whole game, and coming on the heels of their 94-92 loss to the Lakers on Sunday, February 12, 2012, when Kobe Bryant made a great late winning jumper with 4.2 seconds to play.

Carmelo Anthony, my favorite NBA player and the reason I watch the Knicks missed his fourth straight game with a strained groin. Melo might return by Friday.

Jeremy Lin Averaging 26.8 Points and 8.5 Assists Over Six Game Win Streak

The win over the Raptors improved the Knicks record on the season to 14-15, while the loss dropped the Raptors to 9-21. The Knicks were 8-15 just 12 days ago before Jeremy Lin emerged to lead the team to six straight wins, and back to relevance in the NBA. Lin is averaging 26.8 points and 8.5 rebounds per game over the six game win streak.

Next up for the Knicks is a home game vs the Sacramento Kings at Madison Square Garden tonight, February 15, 2012. The Kings are just 10-18 on the season, and it will be fun to watch and see if Jeremy Lin can lead the Knicks to seven straight wins.
