Jefferson ready to commit to future with Timberwolves

LONDON (TICKER) Al Jefferson is ready to commit his long-term future to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Jefferson indicated he was ready to sign a contract extension with his new team Wednesday as the Timberwolves prepared to face his former team, the Boston Celtics, at the NBA’s Europe Live event in London.

The 6-10 Jefferson was one of the key elements in the seven-player package Minnesota received from Boston for Kevin Garnett this past summer. The talented forward apparently is already comfortable in his new surroundings.

“I’m a Timberwolf,” he said. “Hopefully I can be a Timberwolf for a long time to come.”

Jefferson averaged 16 points and 11 rebounds last season for the Celtics, numbers which could earn him a near maximum contract.

But the 22-year-old is not letting the figures worry him as he prepares to play for a new-look Minnesota team.

“It’s really not worrying me right now,” Jefferson said. “I just play my game. I play ball and let (my agent) take care of it.”
