Nets G Carter hopes to play Tuesday
EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker)—New Jersey Nets swingman Vince Carter expects to be back in the lineup Tuesday when the New Jersey Nets host the San Antonio Spurs in their final game before the All-Star break.
Carter missed Sunday’s 101-84 loss in Orlando with a hyperextended right elbow suffered in Saturday’s 114-70 victory against Denver.
“It should be fine,” Carter said following Sunday’s contest. “I’ll be all right for Tuesday. I’d be fine now, but I can’t extend it to shoot.”
Sunday’s loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Nets. It marked only the 11th game Carter has missed in his four seasons in New Jersey.
Carter is the Nets’ second-leading scorer, averaging 20.8 points per game.
